The Showcase Cabinet

I have been working on this little guy for awhile, when I get a minute or two. Also, when the finishes allowed.

This is my showcase cabinet to show a potential client. It's small, 16 " x 24 " x 13 " deep, so I can carry it around easily. The material is Cherry with African Mahogany bead. It gives a nice contrast to separate the ff's from the panels.

The side panels are stationary. Front panel is flush inset with some Blum soft close hinges. Crown is also going to be African Mahogany. All sprayed with a conversion varnish.

I'm getting close. Pretty excited about this little guy.

Looks great I love the rich look of Mahogany.

Would you conside mahogany to be tougher than oak to work with?

Re: The Showcase Cabinet

Build a customized compartment inside that holds, securely clipped so it can travel, a tablet computer, like a glitzy little Nexus 10. The 10 has on it your photo gallery of completed work. Open the jewel box and inside is the show, ready to dazzle.

You might also want to have, tucked away in there, your measurement tools for doing the as-built survey. Laser tape, notebook. The Nexus 10 is the camera.

Been to the site Houzz.com to view the kitchen work there? Looks to me like much of it is professionally staged, lit, and photographed. Might be worth it to have someone do that for a couple of your showcase jobs. Who is that Maine guy that photographed all of architect Bob Knight's work up in Blue Hill? Robert Perron?

It is quarter sawn mahogany and it mills beautifully. Like Cherry.

She's a beauty. I really like the contrasting beading between the FF and the panel. Luke

Re: The Showcase Cabinet

What's taking so long to make it?

If you'd stop eating your wife's cookies you might find some time to finish that.

The cherry is going to get darker and the contrast will be less noticeable. You going to use a finish with a UV inhibitor in it?

Krystal. I know it's going to get darker Leo. This ain't my first Rodeo ya know

Hell...it's taken me about 3 months to get this far. I just have too many things on my plate right now. I need just an hour or two to finish, just need to find the time.

Re: The Showcase Cabinet

Thank you for the compliment. However, Gus is right nearby you, you should get together with him.

I finally finished the little sweetie today. Found a knob back at my house to complete it. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Very nice...is it raw wood still?
from the pictures it looks like you don't even need a finish.
