Olive Knuckle Hinges

Until about a week ago I had never installed doors using these hinges.

These were custom made to match existing hinges in a home built around the turn of the 20th century.

Each one is slightly different therefore I couldn't make up a template for routering. They are solid brass and about 6" long and 1/4" thick.

i have those on two of the doors in my home,,, it was a custom build in 78' . I;ve already changed out my entry door but will recycle the hinges elsewhere in my home. They're neat in the fact that you can just lift the door off if you need to

Those are cool. Never seen them before. Guess I learned something new today. Sweet.

I wonder if I can talk the wife into them for the kitchen.

Re: Olive Knuckle Hinges

I just learned of a potential job that has 25 doors with three of these on each. The doors are rift sawn white oak.

Not sure if I should hope I get the job or not.

At least I'm not pricing the kitchen cabinets which have the same style hinges. I can't even imagine how I would do those tiny things with my old eyes and fat fingered carpal tunnel ridden hands!
