Morning Mike,
For the interior boards I used the new Camo edge clips. Perimeters and stairs I used Toploc colour matched screws. Not allowed to use Cortex on these scalloped boards.
I'm starting an Azek deck Monday, it will be nice to use Cortex again.

What are your thoughts on the edge clip? I just started using them, and they seem to hold real well and saves quite a bit on labor compared to our trial and error on some other clips. Used them on 3 decks so far, and the decking the guys lay today will be 4.

I hate the plastic arms, and thought I'd use the edge-x clips on taller decks. That way nothing is shown. The rep says I'm over thinking it and a homeowner won't notice, but I'm not too sure...

Have you tried the new edge clip? The way we've been doing it is throw down maybe 6-10 boards with the clips installed (but now screwed in), use the Bo-Wrench to tighten and straighten them up and screw clips on the last board every 4 joists or so to straighten them up, then at the end use the camo drive tool with the clip head and do the whole deck. We only have 1 drive tool, so sometimes another guy uses the duck bill looking thing that comes with the clips. It's a pretty fast system.

Re: Composite Pool Deck

I love the edge clips. Only used them on the one deck but it was a big one. I did use a good amount of the x clips where joists were doubled etc l, spots I couldn't clip it onto a single joist.

Yes I have a quadcopter for aerial shots.

I'm going to continue to use them.

Who sayes you can't use plugs in scalloped board's. I do all the time. We over 20/k per yr with timber tech scalloped. I use the Trex transcend spice rum for there mohagony brown whatever it's called decking. You gotta make sure to the one the 3/ solid rows. Perfect for repairs it roof leaks

Well, the installation instructions. If you hit the full meat between scallops I'm sure it's fine, but I like to follow instructions like a good little deck builder so I don't have issues down the road.

There's no reason it wouldn't work.. But again it comes down to warranty. If thr customer wants a cheap scalloped. Board why am I going to assume responsibility by going against the instructions?

You know they only cover boards if failure occurs. Not like Trex covers labor and boards

Re: Composite Pool Deck

They have to say it won't work. Because there are a lot of idiots out there that won't pay attention to where they put the plugs.

Re: Composite Pool Deck

I'm surprised timbertech makes plugs for scalloped boards if they say not to in the installation instructions. The only scalloped board I've used was the Fiberon Good Life board I did a few weeks back. They didn't even make plugs for that. We used the camo edge screws for seam boards and just had to face screw the stairs and fascia.

Other than the clip issue I had (which was solved by our first time use of the camo clips), I was fairly impressed by the board. It priced out at $1.84 lnft for the solid brown color, and the deep grain pattern gave the solid color some depth. Probably wouldn't use it on my deck, but it would be something I'd probably use again for the right customer now that we figured out the clip issue.

They don't. I use Trex transcend spice rum and another similar color can't remember for 99%color match on timber tech Walnut or mohagony looking boards. There the only colors I use for production decking I don't install scalloped board's on my retail Jobs.

Re: Composite Pool Deck

The new Timbertech Edge boards come in 2 profiles, scalloped and full (same colours) . The full isn't available in Canada, but I imagine they make the plugs for it and wouldn't be too hard to get.
