PVC Post Base Trim ?

Have to trim out some 4x4 PT porch posts anchored to conc. with Simpson brackets --- leg comes up the post a few inches.

I'm thinking 1x6 pvc mitered --- pre assembled except for the last piece.

Use pvc glue, P2-10, Titebond and trim screws, what's best ?

Or just butt joints around the post ? How not to fail on this is the question ?

Re: PVC Post Base Trim ?

Either will work well. Is it the abu44zz post base used? Can’t remember offhand but Simpson also makes a post base for retrofit that has a synthetic base that the 4x4 rests on and sits flush to hardware.

Fypon makes a sleeve to fit as well.

We use pvc all the time and I love it. Stick to 4/4 IMO to keep profile from sticking out too much on the post itself.
