FRP - Adhesive On Wall Or Board ?

Have about 14 sheets FRP to do tomorrow. Remodel restaurant build out. Pretty straight forward.

Adhesive on the wall or back of the panel ? What are you guys doing ?

I've only done it and seen it done with adhesive on panel.

I've done it both ways. Been a good while...just want to re-up a bit.

On the wall. That way you don't get your fingers all gooey.

Well, in theory anyway.

Re: FRP - Adhesive On Wall Or Board ?

pretty sure if you RTFD/specs adhesive is to be applied to panel.

if specs/instructions do not matter PTFO....

should there be a warranty claim for whatever reason, and it is shown you did not follow directions, you will likely be buying and installing new FRP on your dime....

Re: FRP - Adhesive On Wall Or Board ?

Make sure to space it for expansion inside the couplings and trims.

I have always applied adhesive to the panel with a notch trowel, leaving it back from the edge about an inch so you don’t get fingers messy. Then a vinyl roller over the whole sheet to press in the glue.

Notched trowel on the wall. Only way I've ever seen it done.

Re: FRP - Adhesive On Wall Or Board ?

Yeap. Snap a level chalk line on the wall, then put glue on up to within a half inch of it or so.

Re: FRP - Adhesive On Wall Or Board ?

Anyway...vertical 9 ft panels. Put adhesive on the panel. Worked out pretty good.

Finish up today.

Re: FRP - Adhesive On Wall Or Board ?

Thanks for the input.

I volunteered my labor at this small restaurant build out.

They will be hiring mostly folks with autism and intellectual challenges. It's a coming trend in the biz, coffee shops, etc.

The owner was an exec. asst for a restaurant co. -- got me from CL during the bad times. Did a good bit of work for them. She's on her own now...so give back a bit during good times.

Re: FRP - Adhesive On Wall Or Board ?

It was on the panels 95% + of the time.
Mostly because it was easier.
