Composite Tongue And Groove Siding

Anyone know of a manufacturer that makes composite tongue and groove siding?? prefer 7 1/4" reveal and rough sawn look to match. Need to replace some rotted cedar T & G and customer asked about any composite material available. Azek has some that is smooth and 5 1/4".

Re: Composite Tongue And Groove Siding

Far better to address the problem
that caused the rot.
I would think there would be major
expansion issues siding an entire house
with PVC, not to mention moisture
problems behind it.

Properly installed, there's no reason
cedar can't last 100 years.

Re: Composite Tongue And Groove Siding

It's on a short wall between two roofs, the siding is only 3' tall, roof to roof. I told HO that i could replace with cedar and leave a 1" gap at bottom of siding so it would drain/breathe better. Rot seems to be from siding wicking moisture up from step flashing. Existing siding has only a 5/8" gap between bottom and shingles. Didn't consider the expansion issue, only going on what HO asked for. I'll tell them they would be better off with the cedar and more gap at bottom, especially since it's southern exposure. Thanks

Re: Composite Tongue And Groove Siding

If they are worried about seeing
the step flashing between the roof
and the siding, run a piece of
appropriately colored coil as a
counter flashing behind the cedar.
