Master Bath Remodel--Meridian-Kessler Indianapolis

Some pics of a recent master bath project.

Tiles:
2 Radius alcoves with Bisazza glass mosaic murals
Slate, thasos and glass pinwheel floor
White subway tile and accents for the shower side walls

The vanity was custom made from mahogany, with solid turned legs. The flanking storage cabinets are stock Kraftmaid.

Re: Master Bath Remodel--Meridian-Kessler Indianapolis

I'd posted this to another thread. From the installation of the tub alcove:

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

This was the only tile I personally laid in this space. My guys did the rest and did a phenomenal job.

The designer was Matt Harris, of MWHarris LLC.

Atta boy!

Nice work Chris.

One question, how did you end the base trim (which I like by the way) in the rounded alcove?

Thanks Paulie. The base is mitered into the radius angle of the tile.

Nice Victoria and Albert tub and Lido stand.

Did you use their drain assembly? Was it a beotch?

Yes, skirted tubs are always bit of a pain. The bigger hassle was locating the air pump. It's in the floor under an access panel behind the tub.

Re: Master Bath Remodel--Meridian-Kessler Indianapolis

Chris the floor tile and the vanity are sweeeeeeet as is the whole project! I’m not a fan of the floral design either and I would never trust a tile setter that doesn’t have thin-set on his jeans, shirt, hair and worst of all – on his hands!

Transcript from video shoot:

Director: “Ok – real tile setter get out of the frame!”

Real tile setter: “WTF”

Director: Chris, jump in there and pretend to set some tile for 10-20 seconds”

Next day:

Director: “Tile guy – jump in there and set a few more rows of tile.”

Director: OK – tile setter out of the frame. Chris jump in there and do something for 20 – 30 seconds!”

Real tile setter: “WTF”

Director: “Chris is that the same shirt you had on yesterday?”

Chris: “It’s the only shirt I own!”

Director: “WTF”

Fabulous work

This space was part of a whole house remodel that took approx. 7 months.

Original plans:

Befores:

The window behind the tub is now behind the mirror of the vanity. The smaller window is now inside the water closet.

This is the corner to the left of the shower which now holds a linen closet:

This vanity and wall are gone and the tub now sits under the window

After demo:

View of the floor from below:

The floor was a hacked up mess from several previous renovations. We tore it completely out and re-framed it.

The one they sent us as I remember it, the angle that the tub makes where the overflow goes is slanted inwards but the drain assembly is not angled and forms a perpendicular shape from overflow down to the tub shoe and drain. We found no way to create a perfect seal at the overflow with their drain and had to cheat it in numerous ways. The design of the drain also where it met the finsihed floor did not allow the flange they supplied to fit against the floor either. It was very pretty, but a very bad design from a plumbing stand point.
