Who Has Snow, Who Has Cold?

Not much snow here in Festus, Mo, but the temperature is around 8 this morning. I think we get a whopping high of 14 today.

I heard some places already have 3' of snow

I’m about 35 minutes north of you. Had a little more snow yesturday and it was like people had never seen snow. Driving 10-15 under the speed limit (25-30 in 40). Been one day and I’m already tired of this cold though.

That's the postal address. I'm south of town and sometimes for whatever reason it makes some difference in weather. It can be raining in town and not a drop 10 miles south

Herculaneum had about 2"....We got dust and it's 10 minutes away on the highway

Well with the way I drive one 55 is still might be 40 minutes. I may have a lead foot. I live in St. Louis City limits and we had maybe an inch. But I was shopping out in south county and the roads were night and day when I hit the city limits on my way home.

39 degrees in the southern hill country of Texas, might see the 50 if the sun comes out. That's buttass cold in these parts, but the real cold comes with the new year, down in the 20's out here. Reminds me, I've got pipes to wrap pronto.

Already did all that. Filled up and put Stabil in the 2 trucks that sit a lot, but as usual I didn't put up nearly enough firewood. For some reason real cold air coming down the flue sucks it up faster. Must be a physics thing maybe someone can explain this.

Oh hell no, the old Maggie's liquor is gone too...it's now Aspen dental. The town has went full blown yuppie. You still see the roundhousers from Crystal City and the trailer parks but hwy A all the way to Hillsboro and hwy 61 all the way to Bloomsdale is now the palatial opulence of 10 acre lots with castles on them.

The diner on Main Street is still there though.

One thing these cold weather does, it gets the bucks moving around so I might get a shot at another big boy before the end of the season. A real tall non conventional 10 pointer has a target painted on his side. I'd let him hang around in the little barn if he shows up.

Yeah it does. I got deer whistles on all the vehicles. They eat in my backyard especially when the clover comes up then there will be like 8 or more, but there's always a few. mostly does

Crystal City, the old flea market...

I built a square log lodge in the woods off Bloomsdale. That's where the family owned station and restaurant with the best Sunday buffet in the state used to be.

Cold here in NE ohio but the lake effect snow stayed north of us for once, thank God. Erie PA got pounded, something like 50" in two days.

Do you think those deer whistles work? I've got a grill guard on the suburban but the new truck doesn't. Out here you have to consistently be on your toes driving after dark for those darn deer running out of nowhere.

Not too cold in Seattle. 1" of snow gave us a white Christmas but now day time highs are around 40. Nice thing is that we can basically do tree service 365.

Yeah they work. Will make them run fast away from you. Which is good. I'm going to say they may not be foolproof. Deer are unpredictable.

It's 38° here now and cloudy. Freezing my azz off. Had to hop in the truck and check CT. Only saving grace is JAWS brought me some tamales yesterday so I have that and chili waiting for me when I get home

It was -2 this morning. Think it's 12 now, but the sun is out and no wind.

Had to move equipment around this morning outside for a couple hours.

Gimmick. I've never heard of any objective study that proves they work, while there have been a number of studies that showed no effectiveness at all.

Any hunter knows that a device to warn deer you're there is hogwash. They know. Collisions happen when the deer thinks it can outrun you, or has been spooked into your path.

Kind of like those "Baby on board" signs. If it makes you feel good, go ahead and use it. Just don't expect it to actually accomplish anything.
