I consider myself a decent archer with a hunting setup. I also like to create the perfect atmosphere for yeast to convert sugar to CH3–CH2–OH and CO2

Re: Whats Your Side Talent?

Don't sell yourself short Madrina your drawings are pure talent.

I like building stuff out of nothing and then painting it,

I taught myself to play with Fiberglas and then paint, I do it good enough too satisfy myself and that's all that matters.

The boat was made out of leftover strips of 2x4 couldn't see burning them so I made my little buddy his own boat.

Then I made my bike fairings and saddlebags, it's really cool too see the stuff come together just like when I do woodworking I don't draw anything it's all in my head and pulls itself together.

I like to gather flowers on my way home and do some floral arranging.

And I like to put on make-up.

Not exactly "talents" though

I can ride a unicycle about anywhere.

And juggle.

Used to do both quite a bit, still pull the unicycle or clubs and balls out for the kids every now and again.

Re: Whats Your Side Talent?

This is going to be a fun thread. Too bad we can't showcase some of these talents.. dom, I go to about 77% completion then I'm over it. Dont bother me with the little details I'm busy tearing something else down already.

We HAVE to have a ct reunion and all the chefs can cater it, the jugglers archers and unicyclers provide the entertainment... photographers and videographers can document it.. brg can decorate it... rex can try and beat his record and knock out me reg and ameilia in 5 hours flat.. lol.

Don't let modern style volunteer to orchestrate it tho.. it will never happen I hear.

How freckin fun does that sound!...

A couple of months ago, I decided to reheat a pot of homemade tomato sauce with quail on the smoker. The smoke flavor carried over into the sauce & it was DELICIOUS

I play the drums. Fairly good cook. Not really a talent but I love working in my yard.

Oh... and I recline in my recliner like no other. True talent right there. Bout 2 minutes and a warm throw and I'm out like a light.

Re: Whats Your Side Talent?

Awesome thread!

Madrina, Kirk, TNT: you each have incredible talent, and thank you for sharing your artwork with us! Amazing stuff!

Blacktop: care to share with the rest of us what the rest of the guit-fiddles you've got in the picture? You've got some real beauty's in there! I'd also like to hear you strum a few bars for us.

Prestige: I remember looking at some pics (from a few years ago) of your work. You, sir, have an amazing talent in doing what you do! No doubt!

480Sparky: I've been admiring your photography skills for quite some time now! I hope you will continue to share them with us! Excellent composition, as you definitely have an eye for it!

Frame2finish: No doubt about it, you have a great talent there. Thanks for sharing!

I can only attest to the fact that once upon a time, I used to sing (had a 4 octave range) and have done a small bit of backing vocal work in the studio on various albums for various artists. Mostly though, my work in the music business pertained to engineering and production work in recording studios in Memphis (Kiva/House of Blues, which also has a short video tour here.), Los Angles, and Nastyville Tennishoe (Nashville TN) where I helped to get Oceanway Studios up and running back in 1993-1994 (IIRC).

I also played a small part in getting a couple of local fellers (Memphis TN area) signed to major labels before I got out of the business: Carl Bell and Jeff Abercrombie of "Fuel" (they were known as "Small the Joy" back then), and Josie Scott of "Saliva"

That's freaky! When I was a kid, I competed in flower shows some - won a show award for artistic merit, but that's long, long ago.

Re: Whats Your Side Talent?

I'm always humbled when I see people's drawings and paintings - I don't have a natural talent with either that I'm aware of. I spent a fair amount of time learning the basics of pencil drawing, mainly because it's convenient. You can do it whenever it strikes you if you have pencil and paper. I was fairly good at nudes, but I never got good at drawing clothes.

As for guitars and banjos and such, that didn't really work well either - something about slow fingers / hands, but no in the Eric Clapton sense

Re: Whats Your Side Talent?

Building cars although I don't do it much any more. Fabricating things out of metal. Doesn't matter sheet metal or heavy steel I like doing it all. Copper, aluminum, steel any and all of the above. Also a bit of wood working. I'm also fairly good at tending our garden and cooking. Lately I've just been working on my motorcycle, and disregarding any house projects I have in or out side of the house. I will finish painting the house though this year, otherwise she might just leave me.

I've wanted to try making beer, then I think about how sick I'll probably make my self because it will turn to some kind of poison.

There is some amazing talent in here. So to save my self any shame I won't post any pictures. You guys and gals really have some talent.

Nope. Just been drawing since I was 5. I did have a few art lessons from age 7-9, but other than that, self taught.

Thanks!
