Don't know how good it is to change up a dogs diet though-- This girl adopted me about ten years ago--vet figured she was 4 or 5 years old then. Had to put her through the heartworm treatment, and glad that I did. She has been about the best dog I've ever had, and I've had several good ones. Been eating that beneful the whole time, but then I do supplement it with a lot of what I eat, and I eat a lot of BBQ beef ribs.

Changing a dogs diet is good like Just- In- Time said but you should do it over weeks other wise too much change too quick will upset there stomach.

Re: What Are You All Feeding Your Dogs?

Thanks for the input guys. I knew from a year and a half of reading threads here that there were some real dog lovers.

SSC, thanks for the link and the condolence.

I talked to my vet today and he agreed that switching the puppy to a kibble diet with meat supplement may help to alleviate his digestive problem. I will do something like Katoman is doing, but without grains, plus vitamin supplements.

The book I linked to actually has a meat supplement recipe for a quality kibble diet. Great for those who are hesistant to switch to completely all-natural or ones who have multiple dogs to feed.

I did a bunch of research on dog foods today and ended up with Orijen, a Canadian made food with human grade ingredients and free range meats, http://www.orijen.ca/orijen/about/. And nothing from China. They even make a point about that on their site. Pricey, but good.

I was considering Evo and although the reviews are good, I found out they were bought by P&G and I will not support a company that tests on animals.

Re: What Are You All Feeding Your Dogs?

@SSC....The Caviar is certainly not the cheapest, I was paying about 30 bucks for a 14 or 15 pound bag. This was lasting us about a month because our pup is only about twenty five pounds. I am very much into an organic lifestyle as lame as it sounds....I just cant imagine feeding myself or my dog some meat from a cow or chicken raised from a factory farm pumped full of un-natural feed laced with antibiotics that it needs to survive because it's living conditions are so poor!! I try to eat as much free range, grass fed everything and I want the same for the pup!

That doesn't sound lame, but rather smart, IMO!

Current dogs have nothing but raw chicken and seem to be doing very well. With this diet there is alot less coming out the other end too.
