What If You Could Turn The Clock Back ?

Would you, why and to when ?, the older me would like to make amends for some of the stupid crap the younger me did.

I sure would like to tell my mother how much the older me now knows what a wonderful person she was and I never told her I loved her enough, I could say the same about my grand parents I never knew my mothers but my pops folks where there but left before I was 20.

I have no interest in changing history but if I was back there maybe some stock in google, Microsoft ? .

ditto on the mom...

spent a lot of time in my younger days having fun...

lots of fishing, hunting, fast cars....

didn't pay much attention to the calendar...

had an invite to go in with an EXTREMELY successful spec house builder that of course i wasn't smart enough to take him up on his offer....

but i can't change it, not really sure if i would change much...

would like to have met my wife sooner...

You have to answer whether or not you can reinsert yourself in the present timeline without risking messing it up.
There's things I'd like to go back and "correct" but I can't do it if it would risk anything in the current timeline, where I think I've got things pretty good. Sorry, everybody. I was a jerk. Deal with it I guess.

I'm sure if pressed to think about it, there are things I would want to change. But, the ups and downs of life have brought me to where I am now, and I'm pretty ok with that.

Would have joined the military out of high school. Regret it everyday that I didn’t!

Last time I saw my dad, I blew him off, didn't have time to "waste" talking to him....he was dead about 4 hours later. Suicide.

Never pass a chance to tell someone you care about how you love them, and make time for all. Someday, there will be no time.

If I were that smart, I probably would have done then what I think I should have done now.

Something like dumping my ex before we had kids is a non-starter, I love my kids and they know it.

Re: What If You Could Turn The Clock Back ?

I wouldn't change anything for myself... But if I could change anything, it'd be to prevent some folks from my past from dying that got taken, or left, too soon.
Everything that's happened in my life has made me who I am... Gotta live with all the choices.
But, for the ones that were murdered or died in accidents... They deserved a chance to keep on going.

I'd do nothing for myself, I would like to give my wife more time with her twin sister who died of cancer at the age of 16. To this day it ways heavy on my wife.

Re: What If You Could Turn The Clock Back ?

In the bible it says "the sins of the father will be passed down to the son to the third generation"

It's not talking about hellfire sin; its talking about the trials and mistakes we all go through. I believe if you can understand your grandparents you can understand your present family dynamics deeply.

My grandfathers mother died in childbirth. He was abandoned by his father and raised by an uncle. My grandmothers brother and father died in the 1919 flu epidemic.

I'd fix those two things if I could.

No one regrets the times they were kind. Often people on their death bed regret the times they weren't. Seems like a simple guideline on how to live your life.

Re: What If You Could Turn The Clock Back ?

There are a few things I would love to go back and change. The one that is most relevant with this forum happened about 14 years ago. I had a couple salesman from a company I used to work for approach me to go into the door sales and installation business with them since I already had my license and my own door company. They would put up the cash and no cash investment on my end. I declined and actually wound up working for them a couple years later for a year. They built it into something nice and gross a couple million a year. Oh well. I don't think I could have lasted anyways, since I couldn't wait to get out of South Florida.

I've regretted not pounding the crap out of more people, and turning down some women over the years.

Trying to not have regrets isn't the way to go for everybody...
