Cool. The operator wasn't even wearing a seat belt.

I had one of those years ago, but it was upgraded to cannons instead of hands.

It would have been nice to see it actually do something useful. All it did was flail it's arms around.

As soon as they get that thing refined to do our jobs, there will be an update and they will build accidentally build the house across the street from where they originally planned.

That contraption or others like it won't be ready to do hands on work IN OUR TRADES for at least a hundred years.

I'll be resting peacefully by then thank Gawd.

Who knows when it will happen to a certain degree, but there's gonna' be a big market for robotic Demo as a proving ground IMHO before any of us have much to worry about...

That's all I ever do. But it doesn't take much imagination to see the potential. Military will be on it like stink on poop, probably already have prototypes. The police will be very interested.

Heavy lifting, fire and rescue, dangerous work in general and will no doubt propel World Wide Wrestling to new heights.

I certainly see the potential. I would have like to have seen it work instead of just me imagining it.

I'm sure that will be soon. Probably the biggest hurdle is a decent compact power supply.

Re: We're Gettin There - Robots

It's a little big to be a drywaller or painter, or fit through any doors. Probably too heavy to do roofing.

It'd be an awesome super, though.

I'd like to put an auger in each of its hands and have it dig post holes for me.

Re: We're Gettin There - Robots

TED Talks has some good videos on some high tech achievements, there was about six I found amazing. One guy demonstrated smart flying drones. They put a tennis racket head on it and it could hit the ball back to him regardless of where he hit it. Then he had three tethered together hold a net doing it too.
