Re: Things You Love & Hate

Raking Leaves.

I love, that I had 2 days of no rain, before a dry (a little rain today), calm, weekend when I wasn't working, to finish picking up piles of leaves and those that have corralled themselves and raking and mowing the yard for final of the season.

I hate, that I worked a full day that Friday or Saturday 6 weeks ago, when I had planed 1/2 a day, to come home and finish dragging the leaves down into the woods, before It snowed and rained and snowed and rained and rained and snowed and rained and rained and snowed and rained and rained and rained, etc., etc..

Back then they were 100 times dryer and 1000 times lighter.

I also hate that I ran out of light before I got to the beds on either side of the house. Rain predicted for the next 2 days.

But I Love that said leaves will keep the plantings protected.

Good enough,
D.

Love, standing (or sitting) on the porch, as the humidity starts to drop, watching a torrential, thunder and lighting storm, no hail yet...

Hate, doing it without having a smoke .

Love our big Maine Coon cat, hate it when he decides he wants to come over and curl up on my lap when it's all hot and humid; it's like a 20 pound very hairy (they're snow cats) and HOT blob taking roost............ can only stand it for a few minutes then he has to be evicted, tail twitching as he stalks off after being pushed off.

We're having a really good year for yellowfin here but not the giant ones, they're farther offshore or down south. How big are the rogues you're talking about?

My plumber just got back from Cabo, he caught a 180 lb marlin and a 60 lb sailfish. He said the water was around 90 degrees. It's not normally that hot. I think we are in for one helova El Nino this year.

What's that usually mean for you weatherwise? An end to the drought?
Generally warmer and wetter here.

Re: Things You Love & Hate

I hate the fact that as I am heading to my second gig of the day at 5:30 in the evening my wife asks if I am stopping at the store.

I love the fact she thinks I can still work a 14 hour day and have enough energy to get milk.

I've gotten that. Coming home at 8pm and the wife asks me to go to the store. She's been home since 4:30 and actually waited for me to let her know I'm on the way home. And that's when she decides to spring that I need to go to the store. I asked her why she didn't go after she got home. "Oh, I'm exhausted" she says. Uh huh. 8 hour day exhausted. Me getting home 3 1/2 hours later then her and I'm a spring chicken.

Yep, it's a double edge sword, no rain brings big problems, then when we finally get it, there will be massive carnage from mudslides.

Yep. Years ago my wife wasn't working. I was working long days and long weeks.

Eventually when she started telling me she was exhausted from walking my 5 year old kid to the park and the library once or twice a week, I got a bit miffed. That and thinking she was stuck at home while I had all the freedom I wanted... working 60-70 hours a week.

It took her helping me on a few jobs to finally see the light.

Re: Things You Love & Hate

I've told my wife many times. Walk in my shoes. Literally. I told her all she needed to do was follow me around for a day. Step for step. She wouldn't have to do any work, just the walking. Lets see how she would hold up.

I took one of those pedometers to work with me one day in the spray room. 13,000 steps in a 10 hour day.... In a 400 sq ft room. She didn't believe it, thought I cheated.

Love the smell of fresh brewed coffee in the morning. Hate it when I bite into a donut, and take a slug of that coffee to wash it down - and burn the roof of my mouth.
