What I want to know is how you got your dog to pee in a bottle. That’s amazing.

I also want to know why you keep it. Is it in case you get pulled over and have to undergo urinalysis?

He might not even know it's a higher price. He didn't get a price from him the first time I assume, so he's only seen the one he got the 2nd time around.

Re: Things I Love (2)

Worrying about stars on reviews is a crappy way to live and run a business in my opinion. Not saying there's anything wrong with it if that's how you generate leads but I would never be in a type of business I needed enough leads that I would have to do something like that or worry about some dip chit giving me a bad review. Screw that guy. Passive aggressive douche bag

By the way, I don't think most Discerning buyers would believe a review report on a company that only have five star reviews... I know I wouldn't

I doubt I would have done the job after that, if I did I would definitely of charged the hell out of him. Good for you.

Unless the 1 and 2 star reviews start piling up there's nothing to worry about. When I see those type reviews when buying something I usually ignore them for the most part because it's usually something they did and not the seller.

I've seen people give one star reviews because they didn't read the description and bought it and it didn't work out for them. How is that the sellers fault you bought the wrong thing?

Getting a one star review because you can't get out to them because you have too much work isn't something I'd worry about to much. Especially if you can comment to the review.

Re: Things I Love (2)

So, I gotta tell this story. A couple of weeks ago, I got a call from a prospective customer (a neighbor of one of our long-time customers). They want a one-off piece of furniture built.

We met today (me, husband and wife) and during the meeting, I explained that I did design on an hourly basis. We discuss this a bit and after a couple of minutes she says: “If you just think about our project, you get paid?”

My standard response to this question: “If I think about your project, I charge you. If I dream about your project, I charge you. If I have a nightmare about your project, I charge you double.”

There’s a 5-second silence and I break it with: “The way to think about it is, don’t be a pain in the ass”.

Mr. homeowner busts out laughing. I’m not sure she got it at all.

The appointment goes on… for a good hour. During the time Mrs. homeowner shows me a picture of a piece that her decorator thinks she should buy, and she says: “but I just don’t like it”.

At the end of the meeting, I offer: “The piece you’re telling me about is in the range of $20,000 - $25,000.” She responds: "Wow! I could buy the piece in the picture for $15,000”.

Without hesitation, I responded: “I’d be happy to build you something you don’t like for $15,000”.

Mr. homeowner spits his coffee out and leaves the room belly laughing. She says: “Well, let us talk about it for a bit and we’ll be in touch”.

By the time I got back to the office (10 minutes), I had an email from Mr. homeowner “Let’s do this!”.

Re: Things I Love (2)

Not worried about his 1 star review and he didn't have a price before hand so he has no idea I inflated it when he came back.

I'm not in desperate need for the work at the moment.

I've started charging almost everyone more to cut back the work load.
