Re: Things I Hate (3)

I hate when speed squares get bent for no reason. Could be a tiny slight bend too. Only done it twice and won’t again, but I was like I’ll just bend that back nice and gently. Snap. That cast aluminum doesn’t like that.

My rafter square has a break in it as well, but still usable.

I hate kissing bugs are moving north out of Mexico and that they carry parasites. They usually bite the face area while victims are asleep mostly affecting animals. After reading about a guy in Hondo who's working dogs were dying from disease the parasite causes I have noticed they are quite a few around my place. Killed 2 yesterday while moving my foosball table and another one this morning.

That’s a crying shame

For all the bad press the cops get , they put their lives on the line every day

They have to see the things that nightmares are made of .

While the likes of us are warm in our beds

God bless them

I hate pictures or videos of people mourning or experiencing a tragedy.

Leave folks be while they are going thru that.

There was nothing wrong with sharing that poignant photo, if anything it was a way of honoring the slain police officer and the pain that the family and friends were going through, to put a human face on this horrible tragedy. If the family wanted it to be a private assembly they could have easily done that.

Re: Things I Hate (3)

In other news, I think I gave myself brain damage stripping a door in my basement. I even bought the Eco Safe whatever stuff that doesn't really work!
Got working, just plain forgot to get a mask on until I noticed I was extremely dizzy. Got the mask on, opened the place up, got a fan going. You know, what I should have done initially. Still pretty foggy.
Stuff didn't even work. It got through all the latex but the lead underneath didn't even budge. Like, hard as a rock. Not one iota of paint removed or even loosened, even after hours of sitting. The dream of stripping the door to wood lasted for about all of this morning.
Now I have all this gooey crap all over the thing, which sucks worse. I'd have been better off throwing the stupid thing away.

I hate remodeling. I need to go get a job.

Re: Things I Hate (3)

Zip Strip's Eco line. Can't remember the name. Supposed to be alright for indoor.
I didn't wanna gas out the house with my kid here, and I didn't wanna be the guy that sands lead inside and kills his family, so I tried the safe stripper to see how it would perform. It... did not perform on the lead. At all.
It DID turn all the latex paint into these horrendous gumballs that stick to f'n everything and cannot be cleaned easily or quickly. Now I've got this horrible nightmare where I'm having to scrape, then wipe with paint thinner, then scrape/wipe some more. Maybe going to throw in some vacuuming? I don't know. Other side I'm just going to use a paint scraper to get the flaky stuff off then prime the hell out of it.
F this.

Methyl Chloride. To bad you can't get it anymore. I still have some kicking around.

I used to go through all that. Now when I get one (it's been years), I give them to a painter friend (old school) that can do a complete 6 panel door in 10 minutes with a torch and scraper. It's an amazing thing to watch. All that's left is a little sanding.

Yeah, that's definitely not lead safe. Lol

I can't believe I thought this would work. Scraping the other side took about 3 hours less.
