I recently had to cut back my Monster intake to one can per day.

Yeah, I had to use CRLawrence for some glazing supplies. They told me the price, I paid it.

6 days later I get a charge on my card for like 30 bucks more. They said they had to ship it to find out how much it was. Huh?

You would think that the largest glazing supplier in the world would know how much a half pound of supplies would cost to ship. And it sure shouldn't be no 30 bucks on a 20 dollar order.

Now I just order all my supplies from Amazon. It's cheaper and free shipping and much faster.

I also order from Atlas Supply in Portland. They know how much it is to ship as does System 3.

Stupid for a company to just charge you later. Especially when it is 3 to 4 times more than anyone else.

Re: Things I Hate (3)

Well, it's coming in tomorrow which is quick. Coming from NJ so it's only a one day trip usually for UPS. Must have ordered it at just the right time, thought they said it would ship tomorrow, not get here.

We'll see what the charge is. It's for a clients project and they'll just have to suck it up whatever it is. I expect it to be around $10.00 It's a steel linear motion shaft 1"x12" and would weigh about 2lbs or so.

If I could have found it on Amazon I would have. They seem to have a fascination with 8mm and 10mm, but nothing 1"

The only thing I can think of maybe C R Lawrence shipped from Cali rather than one of there other warehouses.

Turned out better than I expected. I figured shipping would be $10 and it was only $7.33

1"D x 12" Linear Motion Shaft. Can't believe how fast it got here. Amazon Prime fast.

Well what I ordered I considered reasonably priced. High precision, hardened to rockwell 60, polished, delivered the next day. Happy camper.

That makes sense not much from them for contractors .
I did not by much from them at all, being in LA there were all kinds of places to purchase the trick stuff, with Lockheed and Hughes and all the aerospace company's a short drive away

I was spoiled in LA I would have gears cut and hardened all kinds of metal finishing.

Then the icing on the cake was the auctions when the government contracts went away, Stanley draw systems open a draw full of 5/8 end mills never used and it just got better.

The place I get my blades sharpened and W&H cutters made also has a waterjet CNC. I had this embossing wheel made by them.

This, when you are framing and have an exposed building in process, along with other panelized walls and lumber around site.

Re: Things I Hate (3)

I am more dreading ice covered wall plates, unions, OSB floor, ZIP walls to be taped, and a bunch of lumber and trusses on site..

I can handle the elements, it's more the potential loss of productivity from needing to melt things, or scrape it all off before use.

I still remember climbing trusses with 1/4" of ice on them and literally needing to break it all off with a hammer before sheething.

Now that's a party!

I hate that the check-in-the-mail never arrives until you don't need it. Today that check would have been very helpful to my enterprise. It did not arrive, as it did not arrive yesterday. It will arrive tomorrow, when I will have already gotten paid elsewhere.
Such is life.
