They are right in back of the ones that are there. I can see them.

The garage has a clipped corner, with 45 degree facet being the garage to hall entry.

Yep, that's Knuck.

As for the risers, a couple of years ago I spent a week with family in one of those Outer Banks rental places. Gorgeous, but a 4-step stair on the elevated deck had one riser 1" different from the others. Every single one of us constantly tripped on that for the whole week.

There's good reason for that being a code violation.

1/8" out of dimension is enough to trip you up.

Getting to the job, 25 minutes away, getting set up to make 90 paver cuts and realizing I brought the wrong truck and the pavers are in the other truck.

We got torrential downpours...probably as much rain at one time as I've ever seen. Strong winds with extremely strong gusts. Lots of trees down.

We received a 1/2 hour rain and wind storm and that seems to be it.

Will tropical storm force winds blow trees over often up in the northeast? I thought you guys get that kinda wind with noreasters and such? Is it because the ground is frozen that it keeps the trees in place?

Most likely just breaking limbs off. Ice storms create a lot of damage, and once the limb leafs out, it's very susceptible to wind. We already had a couple of ~6" limbs blow out of a maple tree earlier this summer.

The split gets started in the ice storms, but with no leaves they may still hang on. Winds on this storm aren't as bad as a good noreaster.

Re: Things I Hate (3)

We seldom get tropical storm force winds, outside of the occasional tornado. Most commonly, a month or two of wet weather softens the ground enough that trees are more susceptible to toppling with relatively moderate wind. Generally, that combination only happens every 10-20 years or so.
