Lally columns. Cutting them. Iím also recutting old ones that I put a proper footing under. The steel in the old ones is like 3/16Ē. The new ones Iím also cutting are only like 1/16Ē steel. Friggin cheap.

Sometimes one will break, or develop a fatal crack, and if I've had it for a long while, I am sad.

Almost always, the coffee they hold is the temp of whatever the truck is. Could be freezing, sometimes sun baked, usually tepid, and that's OK, I still drink the stuff.

Sometimes, pencils fall in, flies drown. I fish the stuff out and carry on.

On several Friday nights, I've been seen hanging with the framing crew on the job site, them drinking a brewski from a case of beer anonymously delivered, and I'm still sipping "something" from the mug. Can't be seen drinking on the job, ya know.

The mug is a thing. It is my one fingernail hold on civility for the times when everything goes to hell, the porta-johns reek, the trades are high, or worse, didn't show up, the customer is screaming, the truck has a flat, my phone breaks, etc.
I have a few Yeti and Contigo travel mugs yet I still use a regular coffee mug...it's not uncommon for there to be half a dozen dirty mugs in the cab of my truck.

Ditto.

Sometimes I have to go fetch one from the truck to have morning coffee.

I probably have 3 dozen mugs but only 6 or so that are over-sized and used on a daily basis.

I've always paid full retail. I don't think you save much locking yourself into a contract and monthly phone payments. I can't stand contracts.

Just get one of these.

This is what I have. Dropped it 10' onto a concrete slap, dunked it in water, got it covered in drywall mud and hosed it off. Perfect.

All I used for decades.

Same. It never works out well for me
1st time service area sucked and got stuck buying the contract out.
2nd time Apple iPhone 3g 2 years into a 3 year the Apple company made my phone slow and crap with updates to tried to push the 4g. (Apple admitted to this years later) never again apple.
3rd time I broke my phone a couple months in and ended up just buying a crap phone to replace it.
For some reason if I just buy my phone it doesn't break haha.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

An iPhone direct from Apple is unlocked. It is not assigned to a carrier. You can use it wherever and with whomever you choose.

And the staff might be named Fluffy and Biff, but by God, they know their sh!t. BUT: I wanted an iPhone SE. In Space Gray. And I wanted it TODAY.

Not a 6, not a 6S, not an 8 Plus, and certainly not an XS.

Just a regular iPhone SE, in Space Gray with 32 gigs of ram, and one that uses Verizon towers and NOT AT&T towers.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

I had a Rugby II , was one great phone too. Very doable , dropped it 30 feet once all the happened was cracked the screen. Was water proof, good to have if you drop your phone in cup of coffee, . Was a dumb phone , but sometimes still wish I was using it.
