I will not pay an outragouse amount to write a couple lines on pdf.
This is simple technology that should standard.
Just like the bs of a Microsoft computer not having Microsoft word.

Honestly it's pretty hard to work in construction and not have Acrobat.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

Blame it all on Microsoft and the DMCA. Foxit used to include a pdf editor that would allow a clean save, as did some other freeware.

Along came all the controls over who owns what document format and the document itself. Poor, pretty much gone.

OpenOffice is still free, I think, and staroffice was, too. Ditch ms office.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

I used Acrobat to edit one pdf drawing. Forgot to drop it and I think it keeps charging me like 25 bucks a month. Thanks for reminding me.

I would pay a couple bucks a month, but it is way too expensive for rare use. I could see it if I ran a big office, but only need it once in a while.

Why can't someone come out with a format like PDF that is open source.

I love Openoffice. Haven't used anything else in maybe 20 years.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

GIMP is open source and you just have to convert the document. It's more like trying to change a PDF with Photoshop though. It will work you just have to do a bit to get there.

My printer will make a PDF. So I take the original, print it out, scan it to my drive, manipulate in my photoeditor, print it out and scan it back into PDF form.

Definitely a long way around, but it gets you there.

Same thing, not enough use to "rent" it monthly.

I really hate missing 2 days of work this week because of a 70-80% chance of rain and not seeing a rain cloud either day.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

I feel like I got curse on me. first the truck, trailer and tools stolen, then a 2 day birth with the wife, battling with insurance company's, her c section opened up and ambulance ride with another 2 night at hospital with horrible infection. Just this morning I got the stomach flu and don't want to pass it to the new born or wife so I've been keeping my distance. zero energy. I'm shutting down till the 15th to get every thing in order.
Murphy's law please **** off and take a break or move on to some one else.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

Got called to a house I framed a few months ago after former builder was fired. The sider couldn't finish because they now fell off a ladder and got really messed up. So much so, they are selling everything. Sad situation.

Anyway, hate finishing shoddy work. I should have taken more pictures because these do not do it justice. That area is over the garage doors and was going to be some custom bent aluminum crown. There are so many issues, bats and bees have new breeding grounds. The roof detail in picture was added by the siders/roofers.

These owners have been through so much and still have poor craftmanship.

Uhg.

In the midst of all that, you have a new baby, your wife is now OK, you're getting your work done, etc... find those silver linings and focus on them, as they can help sustain you until Mr. Murphy gives up and realizes he can't beat you...

Sounds like you're at the end of the cycle of crap... look forward to the good coming your way...

I took a chance this week and went to work on a couple days it was sort of supposed to rain. Ended up being perfectly cloudy and warm.

Normally, if I go in, it rains all day.
