No they do but at 7 do they know all 30 plus names probably not. Just seems a little over the top to me

I was agreeing with you. It seems exceptionally stupid to not allow a list of names of students in a class for privacy reasons when EVERYONE in the class already knows their names. I think that they should start using aliases, and throw in a few random kids from another school when it's time for the class pictures if you they want privacy.

Makes you wonder what they'll do with class photo's and yearbooks then...

That's a list AND photo...

If they truly cared about privacy they wouldn't be making students use Tablets/laptops provided by the school and plugged into Google classroom.

That's where the real threat lies.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

I hate trying to hire people I've reached the point I need another tech in the field and a part time office person.

I'm offering what I believe to be good pay up to $30/hour for the right tech and 17-20$/hour for office.

All I'm getting is people with no experience expecting top dollar, it's extremely bad on the tech side I've had several people reach out with zero experience zero tools zero anything asking for $30/hour and insisting they will learn fast I just have to train them.....

One way to separate the wheat from the chafe is if you find a potential who says they're a fast learner, call them on it... offer $20 and if after one month they are the learner they say they are, and are making you money, you up the pay accordingly...

But if you want the experience, the market is telling you that you need to pay more than $30/hour for that experience, and it's a cost that's passed along to the customer anyway... wouldn't be any different than if your materials or insurance increased in price... you'd pass it along to your customer...

BUT also keep in mind that an experienced tech will most likely make you money quicker and pick up more of the slack...

There's a price for everything...

Re: Things I Hate (2)

I have no problem paying more for the right tech.

That's a good approach will help me see if they are blowing smoke up my ass or not.

But I'm not paying 30+ an hour to have to hand hold someone for the next year.

agreed!!!

i have an ad now , and i`ve dogged calling responders.

if you say " trim " every guy will say he is an expert in trim.
they all say " i have all my tools"

i`ve gotten where i now word my ad like this

need a carpenter or helper.
please tell me your experience, in what type of carpentry , and which type of work your looking for( rough ? finish? wood? concrete? steel?)
please tell me what tools you have ( list)
own a vehicle?( year , make)
where you live?

if they don`t answer all these as i ask , i go past them.

i totally discard those with the generic resumes

so now i can weed out the guys who aren't really what i need
the ones without a car
the ones who really don`t have their tools
the ones 30 miles away

Just don't do it. Don't play the game. Will some be offended, yes. Would they be offended anyway, yes. So why bother playing the game.

All it is, is to control you. If you let them it's your own fault.

That was this guy wouldn't give me a straight answer to anything just kept insisting he would learn fast.

Guess he thought if he said it enough it would come true

When my old man got in the truck yesterday he had a box of tissues... I asked him if he heard a sad story.

Said he has the stuffiest nose in a long time, so I joked and said... Get out, I'll go get it myself, no stuffy noses allowed in the truck.

So far, so good. I haven't got anything which since I said that means, I'll be up at 5:30 with a mildly stuffy nose thinking it's just a regular morning and by 10 I'll be like

Start the Zicam NOW.

If it's a false alarm, fine, you dodged a bullet.

If not, you'll thank me three days hence.

Yeah, my ****ing nose is RAW.

I went grocery shopping for my wife this morning, and had to buy a box of tissues so I could finish the rest of the errands without my nose dripping all over the store lol.

We talked about bourbon earlier so I mixed the magic elixir.

Good swig of pickle juice in the morning, another at lunch.

That zycam stuff messed my face up last time. It's basically zinc, calcium, and vitamin C isn't it?

Zinc is the magic ingredient; I'd have to check what else is in the potpourri.

You sure your face wasn't messed up before you tried it? :

Re: Things I Hate (2)

Failing at training new help...
Got the new guy to measure my baseboard up for me, and the majority of it was good.
But the last two rooms just went to chit... Anywhere from 1/4" to 3/4" too long.
I have no idea what happened, but it was every single measure in two rooms.
