That is crazy. I hope he recovers. My wife took my daughter when she was in kindergarten but switched her to the bus after that first year. To many morons in the drop off zone. Much safer to send them on the bus.

If it was a charter school there’s no bus service.

I take my kids everyday. It's a private school 30 miles from home though so no bus... And although there are mornings I'd like to make them walk, it's just too far

The Carline is a disaster filled with retards on their phone and not paying attention to anything around them. It's a sad story. Me personally, I roll down my window and wait till I can see them walking up the breezeway and yell, "be good, have a good day, I love you"

It serves several purposes, not least of which is it makes my son learn it's okay to say I love you in public if you mean it.

I walked a mile to the schoolbus stop, I kid you not. That was back when construction zones used the caution "flares" that ran on kerosene and looked like a Spy vs Spy bomb in Mad Magazine.

Sometimes in warmer weather I'd skip the bus ride home and just walk the 5.5 miles. The schoolbooks got kind of heavy after the first couple of miles.

I walked about 1.5 miles each way in Augusta Maine my freshman year....'69. No bus service...if it snowed 2 feet, school was on.

Can you imagine using those flares today? They'd be used as incendiary devices.

In fifth grade and through middle school we were able to ride our bikes to school. It was a school they put way out in the country and it so happened it was only 3 miles for us and no major highway so it worked out well.

Now that school has three more schools within a mile and a half

It's worth it to not have to deal with it again.

School of choice and yes it's a charter school. The administration has been very good about mitigating injuries by having cars staged in stationary lines while children are being picked up. After all vehicles and children are accounted for, the vehicles are released.

Drop off has rules where children must be dropped on the right along the sidewalk or walked in by adult. This tragedy may have occurred slightly after normal drop hours judging by the time reported by news outlets.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

Rode the bus. My dad picked us up as we were generally after the bus with sports. He picked us up on his way home

I drop my oldest off everyday, no bus for her school. Not a big school, and I pull up to portico and drop her - Zero chance she gets run over when I drop her off. Zero

Youngest is with mother on law this year by Mils request. I carried her in after my wife went back to work after a year - she's 2 now

Re: Things I Hate (2)

The chid that got hit at school is going to make it he's still in critical but the swelling on his brain is gone down and they are expecting him to survive and make a good recovery. Great news.

The school has managed this well for the children. My son doesn't know yet that a child was hurt.

Re: Things I Hate (2)

I just had my Galaxy S4 chit the bed. Wouldn't turn on. Pulled the battery, put it back in and it would vibrate, show the S4 logo and turn off.

Hope you had what you needed backed up. My recovery wasn't that bad.

If there's a reset button (that disconnects the battery, or pull the battery if you can) I suggest you push it to see if you can recover.
