Flip breaker off
Flat screwdriver to remove switch cover
Philips screwdriver to remove switch for box
Philips screwdriver to remove wires from switch
Pliers to unhook wires from screws and straighten leads (12 gauge wire, grrrr)
Attach new dimmer with wire nuts and put in box.
Take dimmer in and out of box 3 or 4 times because it wouldn't go in, move wires around each time
Finally find problem why dimmer won't go in, it's a screw that holds the old metal gang-able box together
Travel to shop to get Dremel and Fein Multimaster, come back to house
Use Dremel with cutoff wheel to get rid of screw sticking into box area
Put dimmer back into box, it fits YAY.
Flip breaker back on.
Turn switch on, lights go on, move dimmer, lights get brighter and dimmer.
Put plate back on switch.

Should have taken a screwdriver to do this. Grrrr

Reminds me of a joke

Re: Things I Hate

I was 10 minutes extra picking up material because some dingus contractor was yelling at our rep, stomping around and making an ass of himself.

Met this guy today and took care of the small job for him. Turned out to be a pretty decent dude. Not even a suit and tie guy lol.

I made some nice money since the other guy gave a crazy high price and I just matched it and then we laughed about how things can come across in an email as opposed to taking face to face. Lesson learned with this one

Had an awful afternoon. Had to scream at my rep and stomp around his showroom to make my point.

Re: Things I Hate

It's contractor day at Rona so there's special discounts. Well this guy wanted to buy some material, I didn't catch what it was he wanted to buy. He was buying a lot though and the store didn't have enough in stock.

He said he wanted them to order more and apply the discount to it. Rep says that the discount is only for today and only applies for items in stock.

Guy then says to get material delivered to the store today.

Rep says that's not possible.

He demands to speak to the manager and she tells him the same thing. It's store policy and they can't make an exception.

After that he flies off the handle. Starts screaming about how his business pays their salaries, "fk you, this is bullchit!" and he's going to talk to his lawyer and sue for false advertising.

Then once again he starts demanding the discount be applied or they will regret it.

On and on he went and the rep looked about ready to throw the guy through the window. So were the rest of us waiting for him to leave so we could order our stuff.

You did it to me again. I wanted to thank that post more than once.

BTW, did it cost you more than 10 minutes of your time? Were there dingus contractors waiting in line behind you? Did you make an ass of yourself?

Re: Things I Hate

People of Craig's List. (I know, that's a given....) I had an item listed for $225 it was priced fairly, but had a little room to wiggle. Dude calls asks about it, says it's exactly what he needs and he will give me what I'm asking. He shows up, looks it over, it is as described and he asks me if I'll take less. Nope. Then he starts digging for the bills and has $230, asks if I'll take $220, nope, you knew the price, you offered it, not my fault you didn't bring proper change......I know it's $5, but it's the principal of the deal. It really irks me when somebody asks me a question, I answer, then they ask the same question 2 more times, but in different ways.........
