Ask Mike. I think he just got finished going through that traumatic experience.

Maybe you could fix your fridge? I hear you're pretty good with a wrench.

My fridge was just off for about 16 hours and nothing in the freezer thawed, my beer is still acceptably cold. I opened it once when the power went out to move some steak from the fridge to the freezer, just in case.

You got me there. But if I had one I wouldn't run it just for the fridge unless more than a full day or two goes by. Throw the frozen stuff in a Yeti and there's no need for the genny anyway - but I didn't bother.

I almost brought my laptop to my neighbor's to charge so I could do some estimates but it's the weekend so I read Fine Homebuilding by the light of a few old oil lamps.

Re: Things I Hate

My wife would hear none of that. 20 minutes without power and she'd be telling me to get the generator out.

It's 95 degrees and humid outside right now and currently 70 degrees and dry inside. If power were to be lost, that indoor number would go above 70 and if I wanted that to happen I wouldn't live in a first world country.

Re: Things I Hate

72 for me but I dry out and get rashes if I crank up the heat over that so I dress for it. It's 90 today and yesterday, summer finally arrived but I haven't used the little window A/C yet. I can cool off the house in the am with the windows open and close it down and stay comfortable.

Even living in a metric country we're still stuck on imperial in the industry.

Just because you don't have the mentality to think in anything other then multiples of 10. The metric system is simplistic, and it takes a simplistic mind to understand it. The imperial system takes a good mind to understand it and use it. If you can only count on your fingers and toes you are lost.

"Than"

I understand it, my mental capabilities aren't in question here.

Imperial system was not well thought out. It goes back to measuring by a "foot."Why complicate something that can be so simple, like a unit of measure? There's no consistency. Feet and inches sucks. That's all. Good luck.

99% of the world is metric.
