Re: Things I Hate

I'd put some of the blame on the customers that are willing to use unlicensed work to save a buck. When they learn, they'll be back.

Sheesh, you are making me look like a lazy bum. It is the season though. Luckily, I have been able to slow it down a bit.

95 degree days working outside tend to make it near impossible to go more than 8-10 hours a day.

Well I am indoors on this job so could be worse. I also gave up a weeks beach vacation to hit this dead line so that's not making me feel any better. Very important dead line. It involves a company worth a few billion and possibly a big lawsuit if dead line is not hit. 24hr days are not fun at all. But the good news is I get to take the second week of my beach trip after tonight. It's the only thing getting me through this.

I tell you what it's a already been a long day and still got at least 12hrs to go. Feeling rough and 2x 5hour energy have done nothing except make me feel worse.

Re: Things I Hate

Popping into this thread and reading an interesting post. Then needing to go back a page or two to see where the first interesting post came from. Only to stumble onto MORE posts that are interesting, then needing to go back MORE pages to see where THOSE posts came from.... and end up spending over TWO hours in this damn thread and STILL not finished reading interesting stuff.

I give up.... I'm not coming back into this thread.

Needing to renew my insurance and finding out they are closing early and until Monday. I caught my agent at the very last minute and I will be OK if I hustle in on Monday. It would have been a very stressed out weekend if I missed him.

Re: Things I Hate

I hate when a 3rd party vendor naturally assumes that an RJ-45 jack with a Cat 5 cable in it is a live internet connection.

I do a lot of video over Cat-5 on my commercial projects. Every now and then I get call from the client telling me that a TV stopped working only to get on site to find someone from Nerd Squad who completely disassembled my setup with their contraption connected to it.

Some of my clients go out and get the Sling Box or some other TV device that is internet dependent. Rather than calling me back to help them with it they call the nitwits from the big box stores who dutifully inform me that there is something wrong with the way that I wired up the system. It was working the last time I was there and I am sure it worked just fine before you guys started putting your hands into something that you knew very little about.

Buying a stupid little chest freezer from the orange box store, dragging it, I mean, throwing it on my shoulder and carrying down the stairs. Opening up the box to see this.

It's been used more than an Asian W#&*%@.

That's what happens when you throw it.

Re: Things I Hate

Having a sub totally eff me with scheduling for two weeks. Just tell me you can't do the job, don't set three different schedules and miss them. Also, don't avoid me, just say something, even "I don't know". This was supposed to be an easy little job after two major projects so I could relax a bit. Now I'm a nervous wreck and it's screwing up my next jobs. After four years of working okay together, too.
