Re: Things I Hate

I jusr did one qwit5h a ton of moldy wet particle board and mouses. I wore my mask nearly the whole job it was misery.. I took it off one hot day to sweep up a bit and I have been sick with congested lungs ever since. It has taken a couple of weeks for it to mostly clear up.

Two weeks with congested lungs is no good, hopefully problems won't resurface down the road...............

Re: Things I Hate

It has never bothered me before, though I usually wear a mask for the funkiest parts. This time was just insane as far as the level of funk. As soon as I had the wet particle board walls, yes, walls and particle board subfloor pulled up, the air quality went up big time. Once it was rerocked, it was a whole different house.

I'll be even more cautious with my mask next time. When it was at it's worst, I could relate a bit with a buddy who has COPD. Just walking up from the pasture was a chore.

A respirator next time might be the way the go.

Re: Things I Hate

I was wearing a respirator. I changed to the proper cartridges mid job and it made a huge difference. I'm sold on the proper cartridge for the job now.

Where do you get that info? As in how do you make the choice for cartridges.

Now did you have your respirator properly sized to your face? The 3m rep will put a bag over your head and spray this sweet tasting stuff in, that's how you know if they are leaking around your face

Mine's sized right but my beard gets in the way of it properly sealing. Fortunately, my mustache hairs seem to filter the paint out pretty good.

At that stage there's everybody except excavation and foundation dudes waiting... framers are prob feeling left out if you get first dibs

The filter cartridges should have that info on them...whether it's HEPA, for fumes etc...

To check for a proper fitting repirator just cover the cartridges with your hands and try to breath in. If you can no good, if the mask just sucks in you have a good fit. No need to cover your face with goo

Do they not get draws after foundation passes and after framing and mechanical passes? Can't imagine that the first draw is after drywall

Re: Things I Hate

When I was 17 I took a job doing asbestos removal. We used battery assisted respirators.

To test them the boss used tear gas. I failed once.

I understood why it controls crowds so well.

Re: Things I Hate

I hate when a customer brings a lowballer to "help" with the workload. Until I saw his work, haha.

Boy that was a hilarious walkthrough. Try again, suckers.

Apparently on a unit we charge $500 for, some idiot charged $150 thinking they would get the contract. I walked it with the customer, and man it sure did look like a $150 paint job...And I got to see it after it had been painted twice (they still had to come back for a third try). He sent 3 guys over to perform a $150 job twice, and I ran the math by the customer and explained why he wont be in business more than 2 months.

And yet, now they appreciate me more than ever. At least we all got a good laugh at the failed attempt.

Re: Things I Hate

n100/P100 is a filter, not a respirator cartridge. Still works though.
