I hate it when the fence extension on the left side of my miter saw has been sharpened by so much wood sliding past it that when I slide a piece of primed base onto it the side of my index finger gets sliced to the bone and I bleed all over everything. The bad part is having to re-prime the base.

Re: Things I Hate

I hate when you're on track with budget for a $130k project and the clients email you at midnight on Friday and tell you that we're severly over budget and all work must stop.

I guess I'll reschedule all my work for the next month

How much work have you done? Why the difference in opinion?

Yeah Jake how does that happen? I am curious about all work must stop. You already contracted the job or a time and material?

Re: Things I Hate

It was a fixed price contract until they kept changing their mind so much that we changed it to T&M. Never had any deadline but I gave them a rough idea of completion which would have been the latter part of next month for everything.

Well my subs just called and said the HO's just called them direct and said they wanted to work directly with my subs for the trim outs.

I'm headed over there in a bit to collect my belongings.

Sounds to me like they ran out of money and now it's my fault, even though my project is under budget. But I'm sure they're happy with the new landscaping, hot tub, and furniture....

Ouch. I remember you talking about that screened porch. The first sign was displeasure with not being finished on their deadline.. I would make sure your subs understood the whole situation and see if it made sense for them to be involved..

This would be a time I would expect all my subs to pull out with me. If they didn't, they wouldn't be my sub anymore.

Oh man, I just finished helping a buddy with a demolition. Complete replacement of everything in, and installation of sheetrock in a bathroom not big enough for the two of us. That wasn't in itself to bad, but other factors that contributed to the "sux factor" were- ......just around the corner, in another room, there are many cats that relieve themselves very often and the whole place smells of it! Then there's my buddy who thinks he's right about everything in the world and won't back down when he's wrong(which is often), so it got to the point where I wasn't in the mood to converse much anymore. And to top it all off, I owed him, so it was all working and dealing with crap, in hopes of repaying my debt to him. It's finally over, but I will try and keep myself out of that type of situation from now on for sure.

Re: Things I Hate

I now have a genuine "Things I hate" topic of my own! Just received word that a certain job I have been holding out for and was thought to be 99% mine, and was the only thing I had to look forward to, to pull me out of a serious-(crisis) situation, (financially) that I am in- just fell through!

So, I hate it when you don't have much choice but to put all your eggs in one basket, and that basket- suddenly without warning, gets stolen and you're left with a sick feeling in your gut!

Well unless you are hard of hearing. Then you might not hear the bike coming.
