Re: Things I Hate

I hate watching an old friend die from cancer .

Same age as me too. I really feel bad for the families that have to deal with this . I know cancer doesn't care how old you are...but 48 is too young !

Another good friend of mine beat it a couple years ago. Same age.

There's been so much cancer in my family. Its never easy to see anybody go through it.

My mom's best friend told Mom last Thursday her cancer has came back and she decided not to do any treatments.

Your buddy will be in our thoughts ....we're here for ya brother!

My Mothers husband (step dad) just has a serious surgery in Birmingham UAB center with a doctor that is famous for using the Da Vinci robotics machine. This Doc shows up in a three piece suit and then changes and goes into the O. R. and then comes out, changes and greets the family in the suit again. He's been sent to China to teach doctors there how to use this machine. He's got his own wing of the hospital there. Very good doctor! He raves about having I.V. vitamin C doses daily to help remission. Like 50,000 mg of it daily. My step dad had 12 laparoscopic arms in him for the surgery and no chemo and kicked it. Good luck to your friend and if it is time to go may he go in peace. We are only here on borrowed time anyhow. Cherish the time you've been blessed with.

Lost my sister and mother in the same year. My other sister just finished Chemo. Had both breast removed. We're hoping.

I hate how whiny my apprentice is being these past couple of days. I know that this is day 17 of a 10 day shift, but staying for your days off was optional and voluntary. Whole crew has been here, but the rest of us know tomorrow is the last day. Just sack up and finish it out.

My Mom was 42-43 when she was diagnosed with a form of what they called back then "Lymphatic Cancer" or some such. All I remember is them cutting her on a diagonal from the belt line on her left side to where the shoulder blade and neck meet on the right side.

It was a brutal and hopeless surgery. I went on a wild goose chase for the then "miracle cure" Laetrile. Got it - but it was - turns out - sheer quackery.

She lived 2 - 1/2 years from the day of that surgery and between it and the chemo, never had a decent day. Still haunts me.

The whole situation was brutal.

Medicine has come so very far in the years since and it NEEDS to come a whole lot farther. It is also why I believe everyone should have the right to decent health care.

Ariound here, its gotten so that all the local rock & roll stations gotto a 24/7 Christmas music format.

Our golden oldies has held out - they became my fall-back - until this year - now they have caved also.

This leaves me with only hard rock and at 6-7 AM, Queen, AC/DC and Led Zep are hard to handle for an old man.

But its still better than flipping thru all the stations and hearing Johnny Matthis and Bing Crosby over and over and over....

with an occasional Madonna "Santa Baby...

and over...

and over....:gun smilie:

That's tough man.. Losing your Mom at such a young age ! I couldn't Imagine .

I lost my Uncle at 38 to Cancer ..Then my Grandfather soon after to cancer ..both on my Mom's side .
And then the list goes on from that side of the Family !! I'm hoping I carry my Dads genes ...That bunch of Mutts ? They live forever !! My Dads Mother died one Month before her 100th Birthday ...She was a tee total er .... And a force to be reckoned with !! You Didn't fu#k with Granny!! Her Mother died young ..And she was the oldest left to raise her Brothers and Sisters .. Then Married my Grandfather and raised 5 more ! She Raised up nearly a dozen kids in her life . TBH When I was a little kid ?? She scared the chit out of me She'd whip your Ass for farting the wrong way!!! But The joys and memories of spending time on that old farm will never leave me.

I can see Granny now chopping that hen's head off and watching It run around the yard squirting blood out its neck!! It's one of those Saved memories That even If you tried to block It out !! You cant!!

Sorry ...Did I off topic?

One of my oldest GC's ( I've done his masonry work since I was a lil chap) Spends his nights in the 'Crown' and his days trying to get over it, just sooooo happens loves Christmas music.

His jobsite radio plays Christmas music from Thanksgiving until...And loud enough so he can hear it over the noise.

He never feels good and seems to always be upset with his crew.

I have to say it's pretty comical listening to him scream and cuss, scream and cuss, and scream and cuss at his crew then turn and walk away whistling jingle bells

I guess I should of posted this in the things I love and hate...
