Thai Boys Soccer Team Trapped In Cave

Been following this story for a few days and I'm praying they get them out. There is an international effort underway but it's a highly technical dive and it would be heady trying to teach these boys to use a mask on the fly. Boring doesn't seem to be an option either since they are more than a mile down. This may be one of the most difficult rescue attempts in history

Re: Thai Boys Soccer Team Trapped In Cave

It will take 3 hours underwater to get out, the water is very murky and the tunnel is very small. Either that or wait until the rainy season ends in October. I wonder how long it would take to drill 130' deep?

Thank goodness they found them and they're all alive, praying they all get home okay.

It was a team of British divers I think that found them. One report said the boys could hear dogs barking and children playing. That either means there is another clear shaft or their mind is playing tricks on them. It could be difficult finding another passage if it exists, plus I know from experience karst topography makes sound travel in strange ways

Re: Thai Boys Soccer Team Trapped In Cave

I lived in that area a few years ago for 18 months...hiked in that cave even. It's insane to watch the coverage of this since I remember hiking in those places. To think of them trapped after a flash flood is surreal. I pray they make it out alive, it truly will be an incredible effort as they're pumping millions of gallons of water a day to keep the water level down in a multi-mile cave. I'm impressed by the coverage of the whole event, and the work going into this effort is incredible knowing how Thai life is along the northern border regions...this isn't big-city life, it's third world life in many places right along there!

A report earlier today said some unauthorized helpers accidentally were pumping water back into the cave instead of out of it.

This is sad indeed. Latest report is one of the divers has died. To take the kids out underwater will be extremely dangerous for multiple reasons. You’re right about this being one of the hardest rescue missions. I’ve spent quite a bit of my life underwater. Trying to stay positive but this is pretty bad.

Wouldn't surprise me, honestly I'm shocked they weren't trying to prevent flooding by using a bucket brigade... while living there I saw all kinds of backwards ideas happening, some successful but many counterproductive

They need a miracle. It's going to start raining soon.

Man that would really suck being stuck down there. Time would just drag on. Then they have to stay there as rescuers come and go!!!! I think drilling a hole would be the best option, but Iím glad I donít have to make those decisions.

Re: Thai Boys Soccer Team Trapped In Cave

I've done some cavin in my time even spent the night in one. Here they are cool like 60 degrees. I've been in tight water filled passages to where you had to swim underwater through a narrow channel to get to the next chamber. If you ran out of air you were instructed to slowly raise your nose above the surface as there was maybe an inch or two of air above you. If it's completely flooded it's a no go. We are number 2 in the nation for caves. There's one that runs for 28 miles just south of here and it still has unexplored passages

Thing is I did my cavin with experienced cavers. You don't wander deep into a cave with just a flashlight it's asking for big trouble

Re: Thai Boys Soccer Team Trapped In Cave

now they are running a 3 mile oxygen tube to them because the oxygen levels are lowering. The kids are in too poor of health to dive. Drilling won't work because they are 1100 feet deep under a mountain not 130 ft as first thought

Makes me sick to my stomach to just think about these poor kids and their families.

Re: Thai Boys Soccer Team Trapped In Cave

Maybe I've watched one to many Armageddon type movies with amazing ideas to solve problems, but part of me wonders why they can't put them in some sort of flexible capsule with extra oxygen if they need it and have the actual divers guide them out...

Be cool if they could come up with a tube that could be ran into it, then blown up that created a cavity in the center the kids could crawl through to get out...

These scenarios have been around a long time and it makes me think of this scene...

I know... stupid ideas... just hoping and praying this works out...

Armageddon holds the world record for the worst movie ever made. The world is about to be destroyed so we send up a group of retards that drill oil for a living.
