People are seeing just what A LOT of the players are made of and it's not real impressive.

The whole package has gotten out of hand on many fronts.
I can't relate, I'm not a wealthy man, but I don't have a problem with guys making money if the networks are making money in the team is making money. My dad and I and my brother went to a game in Denver to watch the Patriots play the Broncos a couple years ago, $3,600 I think for the tickets. Awesome tickets. Best seats in the House.

My father-in-law thought it was retarded. To me it was worth it because my dad loves that team and wanted to see it. He was also stationed there and wanted to show us some of his old haunts. I think my brother is on the same page as I was. I don't have a problem paying that money.

It's a choice to attend the game. You don't have a right to attend the game.

Yeah it's retarded High. Yeah it's hard to see some of these guys making what they make to an extent. But it is what it is. People want to go because they want to go.

It's starting to drop off because of exactly the reason I don't watch football anymore. I'm a huge fan of the game. The strategy, overcoming, the team aspect. It's an awesome game. But the NFL has f***** it up.

I'm in no way saying it's a right to go watch a dumb game.

I'm saying...it's gotten out of control.

How will you feel when it cost $5600 for the same game?

It's capitalism at it's finest.

It's starting to fail because the market (the spectator) is starting to...not bear it.

The same way I feel about an old woman paying $1,200( SS check) to change out her water heater.

Cost are out of hand over all.

And that I can get on board with. I hope that's the truth, and that cost will start to drop. Love the free market. Absent of any regulation

You don't need a football game.

You need a water heater.

Unless you ask a plumber. They'll tell you you can bathe with the hose. LOL

I don't think the NFL is hurting too bad... Business has increased year over year since 2000. 13.6 billion dollar industry...

Re: So No NFL; What About College?

I pretty much gave up on the NFL when Art took the Browns out of Cleveland to Baltimore because the locals didn't vote to pay for new stadium. Baltimore had already felt that sting and were more than happy to buy him a new stadium.

That and when we got a new team they have sucked arse. Hard to swallow for someone who grew up with their team being a powerhouse, most here are too young to remember those times tho.

Once the kneeling started that was icing on the cake, no way I could go back to watching the nfl.

Still love me some Longhorn football especially since they found a coach who can win big games.

My parents were born and raised in Wadsworth OH. So I grew up watching Eric Metcalf, that guy is one of the most underrated running backs in history, he did it all. Remember when Bill Bellichick coached the Browns? How about the collapse against the Broncos in the 80's?

As far as NFL I gave up on it for a couple years. Pissed me off. My problem started with all the rules to try to make a violent game non violent. I grew up with the likes of LT, Leon Lett, Ronnie Lott, and Bruce Smith. Those guys wouldn't even be allowed to play anymore. My team (Bucs) we're great for years because they beat the hell out of the opposing teams. John Lynch would be a no namer now, in the 90's guys like Isaac Bruce or Torry Holt thought twice about going over the middle. Football used to be about defense, now it's all about putting up 50 points and breaking records that wouldnt be touched by some of these candy assed qb's and receivers. Emmitt Smith was amazing not because he was the best natural running back, but because the dude had tenacity. He would head straight into a pile if it meant converting 3rd and short.

The kneeling did me in. My son wasn't into football at all at the time. Didn't watch a single game for a couple years until this year when we went to the last game. I talked to my son about it at the beginning of the year and what they've done to football and how the owners, the players union, and Goodell are ruining the game. Told him the only way we show them we are not happy about it is by not spending money on it. I turned it into a lesson on capitalism more than anything.

For me it wasn't all about righteous indignation. Sure I talked to him about that as well but the Bucs did the right thing and would have benched anyone who did the kneeling thing. He learned a good lesson from it. When we got the tickets I saw his face light up and he said, "Dad did we make our point and now we can go?!"

So glad I took him too. I have some videos of that day and a lot of personal memories that I couldn't put a price on. So I won't be an avid fan by any means but if it's something my son and I can do together... That's more important than continuing on with my statement of the league.

You really know how to hurt a guy, ha. "The Drive", Ernest Byner's fumble, running off one of the greatest coaches of all time, I remember it all too well. Yes, Metcalf was a great player, out of UT I believe.

I prefer to remember NFL chanpionship year in 1964, the year before the Superbowl started. Jim Brown carrying 4 dudes on his back across the goal line, fans in the Dog Pound, things like that.

Glad you got to make some memories with your son. Those count more than anything like making statements.
