So I sold this truck see.....

I posted an ad to sell our Austin Western RT Crane...and in the pictures, you can see an old U-Haul truck in the background.

A 1600 series with 7.3 diesel and 5 speed, moving truck...24 foot box with cab over top...so it is a big truck. We used it for insulation and to keep the blower in.

Now...we pretty much do not blow insulation any longer...the truck hasn't been tagged in 3 years, and it is a storage shed on wheels...or it was. I never thought about selling it...I guessed I would cut the box off and use it to store tools or forms...and salvage the 7.3 for the crane. Truck was driven to where it was 2+ years ago.

A guy calls....isn't interested in the crane, wants the truck....I tell him sure, I will sell it...$2,000. Then he talks trade....and after a flurry of text messages, I tell him $1,500, no trades...don't need a fishingboat, or a broken motorcycle....or whatever.

He asks if it will start....now I am busy, but I call my mechanic buddy..and tell him to run by and see if it will fire up. He does....I let the guy know, take detailed pictures of the truck, and point out it has a blown rear tire. But it runs, has old fuel in in...and was driven to where it is. AS is where is.

He shows up....uses 5 gallon cans to fuel it...asks if I have a spare...nope.... asks if I will change the wheels around since he needs to drive it 90 miles home... I said I told you to come and look..and I ain't really big on selling it....so he says I have only $1,400....

Sure, pay me...cya. I will mail you the title.

He sends me a text saying the inside dual blew out (imagine that) a mile down the road..can I come and help? Nope... told you to jack it up with the jack you brought and single out the rears...didn't I? I sent him the tire repair guy I use, and the next day he sends another message..wants part of his money back. I misrepresented the truck... he wants the title and I should fire the mechanic because the clutch slips....and the engine was out of oil, and there was no coolent in the over flow tank..and the truck is junk.

I think I will send him a message and offer him his $1,400 back when he puts the truck back where it was and loads the forms back in it that were stored there....

Only reason I sold it was U hate seeing my drop yard junked up. Wow.

This doesn't hold a candle to your story, but anyway....

I'm trying to unload a '98 Altima with 117k, runs, good trans. Basically needs a valve cover gasket, new tire,

I'm getting every dipchit in the universe with their sob stories. Last night a guy agreed at reduced price of $500, but then wants to pay half and have me hold it for a week while he gets the other half. wth? (no)

480sparky 12-31-2018 09:42 AM

I'd tell him it's his truck now.

pinwheel 12-31-2018 09:46 AM

Sorry dude, not my problem, have a great day.

Randy Bush 12-31-2018 09:58 AM

Some people don't understand what "AS IS" means. In this day and age you don't get much for $1500. Sounds like to me he got just what he paid for.

Idothat 12-31-2018 10:16 AM

Offer to buy it back for $500 , after all itís a POS

hdavis 12-31-2018 10:18 AM

I'd tell him take a hike and keep the money.

hdavis 12-31-2018 10:33 AM

I wouldn't spend my time and have no payday.

tgeb 12-31-2018 11:54 AM

That 7.3 engine is probably worth more that what he paid you.

"As is, Where is," means just that.

Sometimes you just have to tell people to buzz off.

Jaws 12-31-2018 02:46 PM

...

Tell him to **** off lol. Sick of these self absorbed dumb asses who don't understand trade https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b83c8902d2.jpg

Should be worth more than $1400 in scrap metal.

Just needs 1400 in tow fees to get it.

With the box...the 7.3...and truck itself...he could part it out and make over twice his money back...

donerightwyo 12-31-2018 07:18 PM

But if he can guilt Jo into giving most of his money back he can make 4 times his investment.

This is a reminder of why I hate selling stuff. Some days itís easier to let it rot in place then deal with dumb fó-s like this. But... it is nice to get rid of stuff. Oh the quandary.

Buddy of mine sold a registered inspected running pickup for $900. The buyer took it right out on the highway and blew up the engine.

My buddy gave the guy his money back because he felt sorry for him....

Deckhead 01-01-2019 11:57 AM

What's his number?

I have a 1990 7.3 liter Ford box truck that I'm using to hold some machinery. He can come down and buy mine:laughing:. We were going to give it to charity but haven't got around to unloading it.

Joasis 01-01-2019 12:11 PM

I have had two messages from people wanting the truck, or to ask if it is for sale, to be accurate. They asked because "obviously" I posted it for sale, right?

Maybe in Canada. Here someone would more than likely come and get it and bring cash.
