This Should Earn Me Some Brownie Points.

Momma wanted a new arbor with a porch swing. Got the major part of the swing roughed together. Still gotta pressure wash the bark off the cedar logs & do some sanding before bolting/screwing it together. But I'm going in the right direction.

Now I just gotta settle on the design on the arbor & pick up some materials.

Looks great! I've just started playing with this stuff too. Built a table from a cedar tree trunk not long ago and am currently saving dead cedar branches for something like you have there. I'm thinking headboard maybe

Nice...

Why is it that to earn brownie points we have to embark on a project such as this, but the ladies only have to actually make brownies?...

Smarter sex I guess...

Hell no, don't want her getting too comfortable sitting out there. She's got work to do.

Didn't you see the thread the other day about my floor rep trying to get out here to see me? City boys seem to get lost when they try to find my little slice of heaven.

I hear they're starting to find em in the KC area. Do you have any good spots over there? I looked yesterday , but didn't have any luck. We're gonna go again tomorrow.

Looks like I'm gonna have a couple jobs in your neck of the woods this summer. I'll give ya a shout when we're gonna be down & maybe we can get a bite to eat.

Re: This Should Earn Me Some Brownie Points.

We should be getting Morels soon. Yummmmm.

To get back on topic, I have a bunch of Cedars and Redwood to trim. Now I know what to do with the limbs. Sweet.

Oh, I meant hide them from my wife, or I will end up making a swing.

Re: This Should Earn Me Some Brownie Points.

Got the pressure washer out & got all the bark washed off the swing. Once it dries out, I'll break it down & do some sanding on it before putting it back together for good.

Re: This Should Earn Me Some Brownie Points.

A couple years ago, she brought me this picture & said build me something like this. I had a couple old steel wheels & an abandoned lawnmower trailer frame to start with. We're gonna let it weather a bit before she does some distressed painting over the greyed wood.

I'm gonna shelve all these brownie points for the next time I spend a bunch of money on new tools.

Re: This Should Earn Me Some Brownie Points.

Got the arbor & trellis built that the swings gonna hang from. Still haven't made anymore progress on the actual swing though.

Planted a red honeysuckle on each end of the arbor.

Re: This Should Earn Me Some Brownie Points.

If you plan on keeping your brownie points go ahead and deposit them in the Head Brownie Bank and I'll make sure to give you a fair return of 3.2% and if you want to get aggressive we can hedge those brownie points and invest them in pie points with a possible growth rate of 10%.

(Man this is a great idea, I'll be getting brownie points while sitting doing nothing). Why hasn't someone in banking come up with a system like this for money.

Looks great by the way.
