Sears May Be Down To Its Last 24 Hours

I remember as a kid the sears catalog and the Christmas catalog were just amazing. I kinda miss flipping through those. How terribly sad.

Yes, it's a shame. I remember the catalogs as well. Was always nosing through as a kid dreaming as I looked through the stereos and various stuff. Sears Canada closed up shop about a year ago as well. Retired workers are getting a 30 per cent reduction to their monthly pension there.

Used to be a huge Sears and Roebuck in OKC...the tools were in the basement. While my grandmother shopped upstairs, grandpa and I were always looking over the stuff in the basement. I must have been 8....

Times, they are a changing.....

No matter the name——it will always be Sears Tower to me.

Even a couple years ago, they had the best selection of mechanics tools around. They've saved my bacon a bunch of times.

Next best around here is Harborfreight, but not the best quality.

There was a time you could buy a house from Sears, came in a kit.

You're right. Some of my photos of the DuPont Washington houses (built for the workers at the dynamite factory if I understand things) may be in the latest book. I think her family had a tragedy around 2012 or so.

Re: Sears May Be Down To Its Last 24 Hours

4.4 Billion into an endless black hole of money sucking. But Sears is saved for now.

It had it's day, and in it it was great. But as time moved on they stayed in the past and when they tried to come into the future it was all but too late. They could have been great if they operated like amazon and had the brick and mortar store.

I think this 4.4 billion is just throwing money away.

I think it really would have helped if appliances and appliance parts were more responsive. They were both so slow, I stopped using them. Parts could take 6 months, maybe more.

These days, if I can't find tbe part online or I'm not sure it's going to be the right part, I go to tricity in portland. They have all the computerized parts look up, but they also have their old microfiche documentation, and hugely knowledgeable people.
