RIP Jackson

Had to put my guy Jackson to sleep today.

12 yrs old and had him since he was 6 weeks old.

Went downhill this week, couldnt get up, pooped where he slept just not fair to him. Arthritis and liver issues with lots of muscle atrophy

I miss him but I am glad he doesnt have to suffer anymore.

So sorry to hear the news. Good looking boy.
You did the right thing though.

Remember the love, friendship and companionship he gave selfishly.

Re: RIP Jackson

I think it's been over 10 years since I lost my buddy boss, he was a black lab with the white number 1 on the back of his neck,... Haven't been able to bring myself to get another pup.

But my 9 year old daughter is revising that issue right now this very day

Re: RIP Jackson

Thanks guys, just took a tribute walk we used to do. I am so glad he went easy and before things really got out of hand.

Thanks for sentiments I know I felt your pain when some of lost dogs in the last couple years.

I balled like a baby and still do occasionally but getting better

Hardest part was coming home afterwards and not getting a greeting.

Thanks,

Re: RIP Jackson

I'm a old guy and unfortunatly I've been in your shoes a few times and it is really hard.

We are lucky in the sense that we live up in the mountains and have our own pet cemetary on our property. So they are never far away. I've built caskets for all the dogs.

Take some time to grieve and then jump back on the horse and get another one. It will help.

Re: RIP Jackson

Sorry for the loss of your buddy Kevin, but you did do the right thing.

Don't be embarrassed to bawl like a baby over him. It's natural and almost all of us have been through it.

There are NO man-card revocations about crying over the death of his dog.

Just keep plugging away. It will get easier as time goes on.

That part alone lasts 2-3 years if you don't get another. As said above, no shame in feeling the pain.
