Time for a new thread. How about random pictures? I will start with a picture of Oskar Schindler's sign at a home he once lived in. Makes history come to life.

I've found a lot of old newspaper articles in walls of old homes.
This is the saddest I've ever seen. Construction find or otherwise....

Had a high school friend use a 30 06, the projectile just missed his mother on the main level of the house before it exited the roof. Closed casket wake.

That's like one of those wacky headlines Jay Leno used to read on his show.

When you read it, it sounds like the dog committed suicide.

I’ve always wondered what percentage of suicides were accidental? Like: Kid plays with 30 06 with the hair trigger messing around like he’s about to commit suicide but doesn’t really want to and bumps the trigger accidentally. Guess we’ll never know.

He left a note. He was a genius, wanted to see if the other side was any different for him.

Not really a kid at 16-1/2.

Here's a picture of a bell from a church I was working in. It's close up because there was only enough room surrounding the bell for a man to walk around. This picture was taken with me standing to the side and the camera pressed up against the wall.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l2...206_140606.jpg

Now here's the backstory on the bell...

Original bell of this church was donated to the war effort to be melted and made into whatever our boys needed in the European theatre. Hell of a thing to think about, that people were really truly belt tightening, and churches and town halls were donating their bells. Really something else.
SO, now the church is without a bell until....

The South Amboy Port Explosion of 1950, which saw some 400+ tons of military munitions on barges and rail cars exploded, killing dozens, injuring hundreds, and doing massive amounts of damage to the surrounding area.
https://www.hagley.org/librarynews/s...explosion-1950

I hadn't heard about this until after I saw the bell.
After the explosion many buildings were left half destroyed and the occupants faced the decision whether to rebuild or demolish.
The South Amboy Presby church had seen declining membership rolls and voted to demolish their badly damaged church and join a neighboring congregation. This left them with a bell and no church, so they rang up their friends across the state who had a church and no bell. 1+1=2, and the war effort giveth what it tooketh.

Welp, hard to say. Its from Michigan's upper mpeninsula.

That pole on the back & rigging is same as whats used to snagging /retrieving logs up there.

Think the rest is pretty much Paul Bunyon.
