I'll be looking for the city to pay out some bucks on this one.

Personally, I wouldn't be too pleased. No tow truck, cell phone, laptop and haven't released any of it yet. The guy is out of business until they do.

And this is the society they've created by worshipping pigs just because they wear a badge.

Hope they enjoy the monster they've created.

I think the funny thing is the cop who’s car was being towed tried to pay his missed payments. He fully knew what he was going to be repossessed

Re: The Po Po Shut Him Down.

Sounds like they're statements are going to do them in...

"When asked about the incident, the NYPD said, "A male victim stated to police that an unlicensed tow truck was in possession of his vehicle without authorization” and that after a “police investigation,” Rodriguez was arrested and charges were filed."

Not a lot of flexibility in that statement... either he was or wasn't licensed... if he was licensed, they said they did the investigation before the arrest and charges filed...

Who’s going to investigate the investigators? That always seems to be the problem.

That’s not how it works once you get to the repossession stage.

Uhm... from your article...

"Rodriguez has already retained an attorney and says he is contemplating moving ahead with a lawsuit against the NYPD."

It's why I said in they're statement there was not a lot of flexibility...

Comes down to is they were licensed or unlicensed... if the latter, going to be pretty hard to defend against juxtaposed with that statement...

I’m sure there will be accountability and Rodriguez’s attorney is going to enforce it.

What accountability are you looking for? A just outcome or one that fits a narrative?

Seems to me it all hinges on whether or not the guy was licensed... weird thing for the police to say in a public statement otherwise... if the tow truck guy wasn't licensed to do what he was doing, it doesn't matter if he had an order from the bank, he was breaking the law... rules work for both sides...

My guess is, based on what was written, the cop knew he was behind and in the wrong, but they took advantage of him being unlicensed after they "investigated" and then turned it to their advantage by charging him with theft because he wasn't operating within the law...

But if they find different, gotta' think someone's gonna' pay... and should... if they arrested him after confirming he was indeed licensed, gonna' be hard to justify...

Either way they only cared because it was a cops car, otherwise they’re fine looking the other way for any other poor schlubs car.

So you're saying that if a person tried to block a repo truck and the cops were called, and it turned out after the cop investigated the stories and found out the guy was not licensed to be doing what he was doing, the cop would let him take the car anyway?

I doubt they’d show up unless the repo man calls for backup.
