Perspective

Apple company now has more cash on hand than the US Treasury department. The UST has about 73 billion before it hits the ceiling while Apple currently has about 75 billion.

Re: Perspective

We are caught in a cycle as a nation. Nothing is manufactured here anymore because it is manufactured cheaper in other countries.

In the past people either couldn't (I believe mostly wouldn't) pay the extra money for Made in the USA products, so those manufacturing jobs are now gone. With all that money and jobs leaving/left, the country it has gone to mostly couldn't afford the Made in the USA versus the wouldn't. Comes down to "you reap what you sow".

Just my perspective. History may or may not teach us anything depending on where the history books are printed.

Apple will take in about 80 billion dollars in revenue in 2011.

The US government will take in 2,700 billion in revenue

What's your point?

I heard these same number bandied around CNN yesterday and today, with the media trying to put some type of scare tactic on the public by citing these numbers, giving reference to private sector cash on hand in a corporation compared to cash on hand of the government.

What's the relationship?

There is none. All this shows is the medias ignorance to the real issues and the American publics failure to even begin to grasp an understanding of the problems.

If in 2 weeks after they pass the new debt height resolution and the government deposits its' 225 billion for the month of August and Apple still has it's 75 billion what then? There is no relevance to this comparison, it is meaningless, its just media hoopla.

If they want to start making comparisions to the private and public sectors lets start seeing some comparisons on long term debts of private companies and the US government with comparisons to ratios of US GDP and companies revenues.

Spending is the problem not cash on hand, the US government takes in 225 billion each month.

Re: Perspective

@ Mike Finley

This topic has nothing to do with what you said, it's simply a funny factoid to put things into perspective at just how big Apple is.

If I wanted to make this about politics I would of put this in the politics section. I just found this to be interesting, if you don't than don't comment. Regardless, I would still take Apples balance sheet over the Federal Governments any day of the week.
