Newest Member Of The Family!!!!

Wish I could post pics!

As some of you know we had a pretty heart breaking loss of our great Dane pup last year and have been waiting to get a new one. Our lab/weimreiner is awesome but she is very individualistic. She's well trained but looks at everyone in the family except me as kinda "meh" and our Remmy (our Gt Dane pup) really loved being around us. She loved every member of the family a lot. Not as we were ****ty hunting companions (how our lab thinks of everyone) but the most important people ever.

So the breeder we had was coming up with a new litter and was giving us our pick. She, just this week had someone start nursing school and they couldn't give their old puppy (just under a year) enough attention. Basically the guy said he didn't want to do it but knew the breeder would find the right home for their boy and decided to let her find a place for him instead of giving him a bad life for a couple years.

The breeder got in contact with my wife and I was like, "yup, Id always rather adopt a dog!". So the catch was she thinks this might be the biggest dog she's ever seen come from one of her bloodlines and knew we had the property and another big dog for him to play with. Under a year old he is 140 lbs and 32.5" at the shoulder. The breeder said she would be surprised if he doesn't end up 180 and 38"...

He's a big boy but man he's awesome and we don't have to do the chewing puppy stage. He's house broke as well, gets along with Marley fantastic and LOVES the kids!!! He and I bonded right away. First boy dog I've had since my Tyson and I know he is perfect for us...

Sooooo happy right now!

I think Rob did too. Congrats on the new dog.

I'm looking forward to getting a new dog this year, soon as I get the place fenced.

What breed of dog are you looking at getting or are you going to rescue?

That's still up for debate. I like big dogs and would like another lab like my last boy. Wife wants a collie. Whatever kind we get it has to be kid friendly cause I have lots of grandkids that live nearby.

When ready I will look at what the local rescue has before going dog shopping.

I love our Lab but I think she's got a little to much hunting and not enough retriever

She's a great dog. Loyal as hell. But, no one or no thing really means much to her except hunting and we don't hunt really so lizard hunting is high on the docket for her. And chasing chickens. The collie might be better for the chickens safety... Marley taught the new one today how to hunt them

I have a lab his name is Murphy he's not much on the hunting if I worked with him he probably could be,( what if he can't find his ball I will make noises and he will figure out where it's at from the noises I make) so hunting ball and retrieving them is his favorite thing in the world I mean he won't even go to the bathroom without having his ball and I can't let him have them in the house cuz he becomes obsessed with them and start sucking on them like a pacifier! Lol

One thing I question is do I have the energy to raise a lab from a pup. I'm kinda leaning towards a Great Pyrenees, popular with chicken herders and ranchers down here. Known to be a bit stubborn but very loyal and great with children.

Back in my framing days my Alaskan Malamute bred with one after he broke through the fence. The folks fell in love with the 'ol boy and insisted that I take pick of the liter. I took the biggest female and gave her to a buddy. She turned out to be a great dog.

Our big boy seems like that. He wont even take the ball out of my daughters hands like he will mine. He knows she's tiny compared to him.

I'm loving this big guy.

I kept telling Dad (who is a huge dog fan, he has 3), "Dad, no I don't think you understand, this dog is bigger than Stud Muffin (our mini-horse)". He said he's seen Danes before and I chuckled and said okay.

When we stopped back at my place this morning Chuck was looking through the French doors at my Dad and Dad said, "Oh boy! He is... BIG, BIG!"

So now Chuck's nickname is Big Dog or Big Big... I like Big Big. None of our dogs have had less than 3 or 4 full names and they come to all of them.

Trying to add a pic again...

Anyone know why it always says "upload file failed" even if I try to resize it which used to always be the problem...
