initial reports are the almeda fire, (ashland, phoenix, talent & medford was an arson start.

with all the smaller fires popping up you have to wonder just what is going on...

high heat, wind and tinder dry fuel, it doesn't take much to start a fire...

but, hell yes, shoot the bastards on sight...

If I was king for a day, I’d work them to death, literally, on the fire line.

Kind of crazy out there still, reports today are they are trailoring horses out of level 3. Could be restricted from going in under level 3, don't know for sure.

I do know there are enough closed roads they're having problems finding their way into some areas. Still running their butts off after 36 hours.

Re: Medford Oregon Evacuations

It is a virtual inferno in some places. Near zero containment. They are concentrating on saving lives, not houses now.

Not enough bodies. Our local big fire is down by probably 3 or 400 firefighters and they only had 17 tanker trucks earlier today. There just isn't enough manpower with California burning as well.

Heard a guy was busted for arson in Oregon being driven in a minivan and shooting flares.

I hate the news lag....

Re: Medford Oregon Evacuations

I saw on the news that An arsonist was caught for a small fire outside of Mapleton Oregon.

If it is antifa, you can expect the News to be pretty quiet about it.

After all, they are “mostly peaceful” fires.

A Denny's in Oregon turned away ~20 firefighters. Apparently occupancy restrictions.

Re: Medford Oregon Evacuations

Just checked our air quality index.

We were at 601 an hour ago.

Now we are at 656.

The meter only goes to 300.

Also, they are now warning about the ash. Don't eat fruit or vegetables without a good cleaning because it turns to lye and is dangerous.

Also, horse troughs need to be drained every day or so, as the ash contaminates them.

I have never seen it this bad.

As for the fires in Lane County, it sounds like they aren't fully fighting them yet as they are trying to evacuate people and can't get into the areas because of traffic.

I think they are going to start full fighting efforts tomorrow if they can get the areas evacuated.

Pure crazy. What else can 2020 bring.

Re: Medford Oregon Evacuations

This from the Grants Pass news paper.

our AQI is at 365...

this list is major fires only.

unreal how many little fires break out...

State's No. 1 firefighter says "We are starting to turn the corner." (Plus list of major fires)
BusSchd_BoxAd.jpg
Doug Grafe, chief of fire protection for the Oregon Department of Forestry, said Thursday afternoon that firefighters battling dozens of major fires in Oregon are still focused on saving lives and protecting structures and communities.

But, “We are starting to turn the corner on some of these fires, to suppression efforts,” Grafe said in a press conference that Gov. Kate Brown opened.

Brown stated that 30 crews from state prisons, additional National Guard firefighters, a strike team on loan from Utah, and potentially active military firefighters are joining the firefight.

“We hope to transition from saving lives and evacuating to containing fire,” Brown added.

Here is a partial list of current wildfires in Oregon:

• Almeda Fire (Ashland to Medford), 5,716 acres, no estimate of containment.

• Obenchain Fire (Eagle Point to Shady Cove), 20,000 acres, no estimate of containment.

• Slater Fire (Happy Camp, California to Takilma), 127,756 acres, no estimate of containment.

• Archie Creek Fire (Glide, Idlelyd Park, Diamond Lake), 107,578 acres, 1% containment.

• Two Four Two (near Chiloquin, Klamath County), 16,760 acres, 5% containment.

• Holiday Farm Fire (McKenzie Bridge, Lane County), 144,695 acres, no estimate of containment.

• Lionshead Fire (Detroit Lake to Warm Springs), 125,543 acres, 5% containment.

• Riverside Fire (near Estacada, Clackamas County), 120,857 acres, no estimate of containment.

• Beachie Creek Fire (formerly Santiam Fire; Marion County) 185,235 acres, no estimate of containment.

• Echo Mountain Complex (near Lincoln City), 2,435 acres, no estimate of containment.

Re: Medford Oregon Evacuations

We don't know who started any of these fires or why or if they are even man made to begin with.

What we need to do is stick together, save each others lives, and put the fires out.

The police can assign blame later.

Canby and Oregon city on the outskirts of Portland just got evacuation orders as well.

Re: Medford Oregon Evacuations

Douglas County sheriff put out a statement that no, they don't have antifa charged with arson, quit calling us about it.

The other thing they said is if you see looting, don't post it on Facebook, call 911 immediately so they can do something about it.

Facebook is being used to throw some monkey wrenches in the middle of all this

Antifa

Might even be BLM.

Or it could be natural. But, look at the historical number of fires compared to now. This seems like how one fights UW. We have enemy inside the wire.

Re: Medford Oregon Evacuations

I read a report this morning that a lineman from Portland General Electric said they arrested 6 antifa people starting fires and almost caught another one. This was in Clackamas county. Also reports they were breaking into homes to start fires in Canby, Oregon.

Shoot 'em on site if starting fires would be my protocol.

I disagree with your premise only because in order to successfully fight an enemy, we have to completely and accurately identify the enemy. Since it seems to be arson, we have to approach a dual tack of fire operations (rescue and fight) as well as severe punishment to the arsonists (hoping that it scares others away from doing the same).

Antifa and other radicals are doing this. Technically this is a political subversion operation, aimed at maintaining fear in the citizens. 2020 has been one big planned series of chaos promoting events......I guess the ET aliens are next.

That's social media nonsense. No radicals arrested. There isn't a breakout of natural / accidental / arson yet.
