Medford Oregon evacuations

1 Attachment(s)
my daughter just called and said she has been told to evacuate and she lives pretty much in the middle of medford.

heavy fire damage in Phoenix & Talent.

new fire just broke where a bunch of homeless live, in a greenway park belt, about 1/2 mile from her house.

initial info is fire that started in Ashland and caused this mess is arson.

two more fire are burning just north of medford...

pic is about 5:30 from the lumber yard a mile from me in grants pass.

Facebook horse people are all over this trying to evacuate horses. Some are trapped and can't get trailered out. One is trying to go in now.

Lots of evacuations going on around here. We are technically in a level 1 evac, but that just means to be aware of the hazards.

Lane and Douglas counties in their entireties are under Level 1 if I am hearing things correctly.

Level 2 is get ready, gather your stuff, load the horses and critters and be ready to roll.

Level 3 is get your butt out. Do not pass go, don't get anything, just go.

I posted in the hate thread, but our local Rodeo grounds are filling up with evacuees. They can hold a couple hundred animals. Folks are donating hay and such.

I went and grabbed my horse trailer off a job so we would have it if we need to go with our critters. Filled a 50 gallon barrel with water at a friend's house.

We were just talking last week how we had made it out of the heavy fire season with no real big fires. Guess we were very wrong.

I feel for the folks who have lost everything. It happened all of a sudden with very little warning. Suddenly we are in the middle of the worst fire episode in recent memory.

Its open with sporadic delays due to visibility and tanker traffic.

How come that fire is not on the map? Is that typical for the online tools?

NIFC gets overloaded at times.

Usually pretty good info

My understanding is you can't trailer out horses and critters once it's level 3, they have to be brought out under level 2. Once it's level 3 you have to ride them out.

Not sure about that. I do know there a lot of horses and cattle moving around right now.

I'll look into it.

Well, we are getting reports of arsonists starting fires locally. Just a few miles out of town they stopped one guy. Havent caught him yet.

Facebook info, take it for what it is worth:

People starting fires from motorcycles along I-5. Someone tried to burn down Thurston High School, they caught that douchebag chick. That area is already under serious level 1 or 2 evac notices, and not much farther up river, they are already at levels and out.

I have heard that antifa is starting fires around Medford, then looking once folks leave. Any info on this Griz?

Thinking of all you Oregon bros.

Just saw on social that some had to skedaddle today. The pictures are so surreal.

dayexco 09-09-2020 08:36 PM

wife changed her flight from medford to bend.

nothing specific, but there are a lot of smaller fires popping up and no lightning...

My sonís best friend lives just north of Medford. He says that people are saying that most of these fires are being intentionally set and that the local sheriff said if he catches someone starting a fire he will shoot them.

VinylHanger 09-09-2020 08:58 PM

I have a feeling if someone was caught starting one around here, they would just wander off into the wilderness.

I doubt anyone would really look too hard.

That is just evil. Destroying homes, lives and beautiful landscapes.

I bet, those same dirtbags are also econazis. That side just can't see their two facedness for the soy in their lattes.
