Making Any Christmas Gifts This Year?

I figure a few of us are making gift this year and it would be nice to see what everyone else is making.

Iím making two of these. One for my father and another for my uncle. Made from a extra stair picket I had on hand and with only hand tools

Made a prototype that I am going to end up keeping as I have found use for it over the last few days

Re: Making Any Christmas Gifts This Year?

I dont have time. That's why they invented Amazon.

Actually though, we thought about that last night. We could have made some things. Outdoor planters, window frame boxes, etc. But it's too late now and I dont really have a dry place to work at the moment.

Next year we may do it though.

I can't see what that is. It looks like a planer? Never mind, I made it bigger. Very cool.

So what is it? On my phone it could be a planer or can crusher.

The only thing I'm making this year is money.

Nope, first year I haven't in a long time. Supposed to do bunk beds for my son but there's just no way I could get to it. I might make something small with the kids for the ole lady, maybe a bottle opener to hang on the wall out of some Ziricote I have. Kids have fun with it and we almost always do something so for her.

Re: Making Any Christmas Gifts This Year?

I'm making a doll house for one of my grand daughters. A replica of sorts of my house minus the front & rear porch. I need to hurry up and get it finished, time is short now.

I was going to make some granite topped tables to match the one I made for one of grandson's birthday recently but, simply knew I wouldn't have time so that will be done next year. It wasn't meant to be for him but, he liked it so much I let him have it. I likes the slick surface of the granite cause his stikbot guys stick to it.

If I can get pictures to post up I'll do that when the doll house is finished.

If I had time to make anything it would be for myself, be a cold day in hell if I started making gifts.

Re: Making Any Christmas Gifts This Year?

My grandfather made grandfather clocks for his daughters and all the grandkids, plus some. Cranked one out every Christmas. I made cedar chests.

But....I decided to build a steamer chest styled trunk for my baby girl, and granddaughter....got all the stuff set out in the shop, wood from the shed.....and then distraction......so next year.

I am very nearly done buying Christmas presents, ever again.

Re: Making Any Christmas Gifts This Year?

My father in law requested a storage piece for the handmade razor we gave him earlier this year. So I was tasked to make him a cell phone case? Wait no, really it is a piece of plastic! Took some scrap Corian, grabbed the router, and the Woodpeckers jig. 3 router bits later, too many times setting jigs and clamping it up, a bunch of hand sanding, as it is too small for most of my power sanders to fit inside, the track saw made the cuts, and with them I produced a plastic tray. Fortunately he will be happy because it is hand made, plus easy to clean. So off to France it goes
