Lunch Today


Got sent home a doggie bag last night from a corned beef & cabbage dinner.

Wife made us grilled corned beef sandwiches on Dill Rye w/swiss cheese, mustard and horseradish......

WOW!!!! they were killer....

washed it down with a beer & I'm ready for a nap....

Griz although that looks great it's almost a crime you didn't make corn beef hash!

Yes.

I also have two that I will put in the smoker....Pastrami

Grilled Pastrami sandwiches are also killer....

Take one, cover that sob in molasses and steak spice, smoke it and you got Montreal style smoked meat.

Smoking corned beef gives you fauxstrami, pastrami is mad with beef navel not brisket.

2 weeks ago i ran across the street and bought 1 corned beef and 1 pastrami sandwich, Got home and split em with the wife, Now as for the corned beef and cabbage, My wife Kelley Marie reminds me all the time to kiss her sweet irish a%%, And like good irish lass corn beef and cabbage is served all year.

Corned beef and cabbage is an American dish not an Irish one. It's as Irish as spaghetti with meat sauce is Italian.

Spaghetti with meatballs isn't Italian (meatballs are a Secondi, not a Primi). Meatsauce is absolutely Italian, unless you don't consider Bologna part of Italy.

If you go to Italy and ask for pasta bolognaese they will look at you like you are from Mars. Neither are italian dishes I promise you.

Here's a pic of something similar to what you would get in Bologna, Ragu a la Bolognese on pasta.

It's not the thick tomato sauce with ground beef you find in the US and Canada.
