"Hunter Killer"...not really a war movie but involving Russian and US subs...

Pretty new flick. Won't go down as an epic film but I enjoyed it.

Re: Lets Have Another For Fun Thread, Favorite War Movie

I’m a sucker for the old John Wayne war movies like The flying leathernecks, or The fighting Sea Bees, The sands of Iwo Jima.

Fury was a good one

I always watch Sergeant York when I see it on TV

So many good ones it’s hard to pick just pick one

Surprised no one said Platoon. That was a solid flick.

I like war documentaries probably more than the movies. Not sure why but historical books seem to grab my attention a bit more for war stuff.

I did. Also Apocalypse Now.

Tora,Tora,Tora is a great one.

One I watch every time I come across it is Das Boot.

Just finished watching The Pacific. Basilone was from the next town over from where I grew up, I've been over the bridge named after him hundreds of times. Growing up I didn't know how much of a bada$$ he was

Lone Survivor and 13 Hours are a couple more recent ones that were really good

Platoon
Saving Private Ryan
We Were Soldiers Once & Young

Big fan of war movies. That opening scene on Saving Private Ryan where they are hitting Omaha beach under machine gun fire is some pretty scary real looking film work.

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch 13 hours. It still makes me too angry.

Another one that I watch often.

The Pianist. If you haven't seen it and like character study more than action type movies, this is a good one. Definetly in my top list.
