Re: Katy Perry

I'm not saying that some of the songs she performs aren't catchy, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy watching her videos but she certainly is not role model material.

Nevertheless, it would be a pretty cool deal for the kids to have someone that famous put on an exclusive show for their school.

I used this pic to express what high dollar make up people can do when my then 10 year old girl said how pretty stars were...

Although I am not into pop music, I do kind of of like her song Roar if for no other reason then PETA does not like it.

If I was offered a million a month to shake my azz and sing, I'd sell my tools.

Re: Katy Perry

You think your daughter kissing other girls on camera in lingerie is role model material? I would hope you have higher aspirations for her above p0rn star.

Re: Katy Perry

Okay, this thread is about dead so I can post this.

Here is the biggest reason she is not a role model.

Re: Katy Perry

In an earlier post, I admitted I'm a big fan. I still am. She gets a lot of play on our sites, which admittedly also gets a lot of eye rolls.

In a world of crappy pop music, her stuff is a step above, musically and lyrically. Besides, what chick hasn't kissed another chick.

She supports the troops, treats her fans well and rarely if ever goes off on a lefty rant. She was also smart enough to kick Russel Brandt to the curb. Her support of a certain person is a rare low point on my Katie radar.

I also listen to Motorhead, so I do get to keep my Mancard.

Re: Katy Perry

After Hurricane Sandy the crew I used to work for did a few house cleanouts. Part of that is opening the floor, getting into the crawlspace that all the shore houses have, and removing the soggy insulation batts. The crawlspaces are always about 3' high and have a sand bottom since you know, you're at the beach. Once that's wet and covered in insulation, and cold, it's probably the worst working environment you could ask for.
Then after you get the insulation out you have to spray bleach on the joists or whatever that stuff you spray is. I don't know. It smells awful though.
So, me and the other guy do the only logical thing we can to determine who goes in the hole on this one. Rock Scissor Paper. Paper and he's in the hole. I tell him I'm sorry and that if he needs anything just yell yadda yadda.
He's down there a while now and I'm working away up top when I hear this muffled voice through a respirator coming from the hole. He's yelling, "Muh-muh Meh-Meh!"
I get closer and yell back, "What?"
MUH-MUH MEH-MEH
WHAT?
Finally he takes the mask off and yells, "Katy Perry, bro! Katy Perry! I need some god damn Katy Perry or I'm gonna die down here!"

I cranked the pop station and lowered the radio into the hole. He lived.

I would strangle you if you forced me to listen to that chit in a crawl space.

My new favorite artist is Gilbert Brantley. He has some good songs. Hank Jr is good, too.

I never thought Katy Perry was that bad, don't see anything wrong with a girl kissing a girl, maybe it's just me. Who is the one that sings the chains and whips song? That one is my nieces favorite.

Re: Katy Perry

I don't think anyone was discussing whether or not they liked her music or thought she was good at what she does or not. It was whether or not one would want their daughter to use her as a role model.

There is a difference between a girl kissing a girl and doing it scantily clad for a video to be seen by a large portion of the world. The same goes for a one night stand vs a one night stand on video
