I'm not sure that was a good call.

I've ridden with a Vietnam vet who has profound PTSD and is medicated for it. 100% combat disability.

He'll blow red lights. A very dangerous driver.

I bet there are 7500 people out there that have had a loved one killed by somebody running a red light. I can guess how they'd vote on this one.

Good point. I assumed it was a one-time mistake. Hope so.

Re: A Judge Does Right

Nobody knows if he's a chronic stop sign runner. You have to have a conviction to keep tabs. Any fine could be suspended.

Running stop signs is amazingly common. There is a rural intersection that had stop signs on the lower traffic crossroad. There were so many times there that they changed it to a 4 way with blinking yellow lights coming up to the intersection. It's just less likely they'll be run in both directions at the same time.

When a friend of mine came back, he was running stop signs and red lights all the time. He said he was really having a hard time stopping. In Iraq, you don't stop. When you stop, they attack. Now that he was back, he knew it was ok to stop, but when the moment arrived, he couldn't bring himself to stop.

I saw him a couple weeks ago, at a gun class. He seemed to be doing pretty good. He said he gets to the range about every other week. His wife says it is easier to live with him.

Yes, the guy has issues. I can't condone running a stop light/sign. But, we need to understand, our country has caused his problems. We need to find some middle ground.
Personally I think he should have been found guilty, with any fines dismissed.
He's got to work on this. If it was a one time incident, then it won't matter on his record. If he does this everyday, he will end up killing someone.

Re: A Judge Does Right

It could be as simple as the VA has the medication dosing off. You just never know.
