Moms grocery getter was a 57 Chrysler station wagon with a 392 Hemi.

There were 8 kids, lived in Chicago on a city block, 6 of us were driving, mom and dads vechicles went in the garage. Out front was a 383 Magnium Dart, 413 300H, 396 Chevelle SS, a Pinto...., 427 Impala SS, 340 Challenger. The good old days.

First car was a 1973 Pontiac Ventura...looked identical to a Nova SS. Bought that used in '73 after I graduated.

Bought my Dad's '65 Chevy pickup a few years later.

Then was a Dodge Monaco...a tank.

Third was a new '79 Coupe DeVille and then bought a 72" Fleetwood Brougham so had two Caddies sitting in the driveway at 24...lol.

Believe it or not, this is in chronological order. I went from junk cars to nice cars repeatedly. LOL.

1959 Cadillac (paid $250 in 1975)
1974 Super Beetle (paid $2,950 in 1976)
1984 Toyota Tercel (purchased new - crappy car)
1977 Buick Century (paid $100 - blown head gasket)
1974 Peugeot 504 Station Wagon
1966 Ford Falcon Station Wagon
1981 Honda Accord
1981 Pontiac Bonneville station wagon

Starting in 1990, I began purchasing new cars and keeping them until they were mostly dead.

Here I am in 1976 with my beautiful 1974 Super Beetle. Check out that pants suit!

Re: If You Are Over 50 (no Kids Allowed), Name Your First Few Vehicles

1975 I bought my first car a 1972 Simca 1204 (French Chrysler). Cost $300. It was the only thing on the lot for less than $500. I had to borrow $25 from my mom to get it. She wouldn't lend me anymore to get a $500 "real" car

In 1976 I got a '75 Honda 360 around $600 new.

1977 Toyota Celica GT coupe new $4000

1979 I got a '65 Chevy pickup $500

1982 I got a 1980 Kawasaki LTD1000 $2500

1984 I got a 1985 Dodge D150 pickup new $10,000

1988 I got a 1985 Toyota pickup $3000

1999 Dodge 2500 pickup new $25,000

2003 Dodge 2500 pickup new $29,000

2008 I got a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup $17,000

2009 Chevy 2500 pickup new $40,000

2018 I got a 2017 Ram 3500 new $60,000

Re: If You Are Over 50 (no Kids Allowed), Name Your First Few Vehicles

My brothers and I shared a black '59 VW bug my dad bought us to drive to high school for $100. We upgraded to my dad's '63 Ford Comet later on in high school.

First car I bought was a '66 Mustang which I got from a neighbor for $200 in 1973 when I got out of the army. It wouldn't start so they sold it cheap. My bro told me it needed a battery which I put in while sitting in their driveway, then drove off. The old man was fuming, ha.

Got some body work and a paint job on it for $50 from younger brother who had a body shop. Sold it for $700 and bought a '39 Pontiac Sedan from same brother. Best car ever for driving in snow.

Next was '71 Monte Carlo, my first car in when I moved to Texas. First new car I bought in '75 was a white Chrysler Cordova. Bought a new Suzuki 380 the following year.

In 1981 I started my framing business and bought a '74 F100, 390 with granny gear 4 speed on the floor. Never driven a car since then. I have to admit lately I've given some thought to getting an old school muscle car but, I'm afraid it might be the death of me due to the lead foot I still have.
