If You Like Quiet, Thinking Movies...

This is a good one. A little modern history that I had never heard about.

Last one for the night. Great WW1 movie. Classic English film.

So, in a nutshell, what's the movie about?

Re: If You Like Quiet, Thinking Movies...

Gotta watch it. It is basically about an older lonely guy who finds the meaning of his life through the past life of others. Like I said, it's a quiet movie with a bit of action. It will make you think.

The second one is about two brothers who grow up and go to war.

I don't like spoilers, so it's hard to say what it's about without them.

I've got a hankering to see something along the lines of 'The Good, the Bad & the Ugly' but without the long drawn out drama leading up to some of the gunfights.

While we're on westerns, anyone else despise Unforgiven? I just can't do that movie more than the once I saw it. Maybe I just can't stand to see Clint as whatever he was in that movie, but I love all Westerns, but not that one.

High Plains Drifter is one of my favorite Eastwood flicks.

Funny you say that...same here.

I thought the movie was one of the worst he's been in.

The ending scene in the bar was pretty good but other than that...pretty lame.

Re: If You Like Quiet, Thinking Movies...

I like him in the old spaghetti westerns, don't see many movies, one I really like is the redone True Grit, much better than the original IMO, that young girl is the one with the true grit and really did a great job, as did the mumbling sheriff.

High Plains Drifter is one of the greats.

Unforgiven was just plain annoying. The writer (movie character) deserved a swift elbow to the jaw, too..."Who'd you shoot first?" Garbage.

It's one of my favorite westerns. Mostly because it comes across as more realistic than the standard western formulaic meme. In order to take care of biness he has to become the man he tried to escape.

That was the point of his character. A true thing for back then too, America sucked up the sensationalized cowboy hero stuff and still does.
