We all know that it's highly selected and enhanced moments of otherwise normal lives with all the BS that everyone has, but it can take a toll on your mental health to constantly be comparing yourself with something that isn't even real.
Then there's that whole fake news and memes that just get the lonely cranks all fired up over BS that everyone else knows is BS, so really...who is made genuinely happier with Facebook?
Man, what a Debbie downer.... Never felt like that at all on Facebook You see your friends having a good time and it depresses you that's no good

Now the political memes ? Yeah, I get triggered sometimes. In fact that's about the only time I get on Facebook much is when elections are around Usually sticks round for a bit after and the face off. Just had a nice time Saturday telling a bunch of bleeding hearts how the guy who killed cecil did more for lion population than any of the snow flakes in that thread

Facebook has never been remotely as good as CT to me. I don't have an alert going to my phone or anything like that for Facebook. Just recently turned off Tapatalk alerts for CT because it was driving me crazy. LOL

I can pick what to invest in, FB, Twitter, Instagram, Amazon along with some other tech stuff was always on the no list. Simply put, I don't invest in companies I don't like, be it what they make/do, who owns it, whatever.

Re: I Quit Instagram And Facebook And It Made Me A Lot Happier

I have Instagram, I look at it maybe 2-3 times a week. I deleted Facebook a few years back, didn't just deactivate it either, I actually went through the process of getting it permanently deleted.

A little social media is ok for myself but too much is a time sink and a waste.

Re: I Quit Instagram And Facebook And It Made Me A Lot Happier

I love CT...cause we as contractors can hang out together...bounce ideas off each other...and actually be friends.

In my day to day life off of CT, contractors dont go around each other because everybody is looking at each other as local competition, other fish in our small pond.

I have some contractors ive worked for ,for many years, only see the jobs I do for them

So I joined FB. I use my personal page to share pictures of my work and set up a business page to help promote my stone company. So far I think its been great.

Ive gotten several fireplace jobs from home owners who other wise never knew what we did. And all of my GCs seem to be excited to see other jobs we are doing..

Re: I Quit Instagram And Facebook And It Made Me A Lot Happier

Just watched a facebook train wreck. Alcoholic woman who is getting divorced was making all kinds of personal posts. Her grown son got on and told her to call him now. Her college age daughter got on and told her to stop posting. It went on for a couple more hours.

I don't think anyone's life was made even a teenie bit better by it.

She would have been better off just posting a nude selfie.

It needs to be asked. Is she hot?

Seriously, though. I am always hearing about Facebook kerfluffles. So and so said this and then they said this and then they aired out the laundry, then these two aren't talking, then the young adult kids pipe up not even having a clue what it is about and it keeps going.

It is pretty stupid.

I dont have an account at all. Instagram either. Though, I have thought of doing a business page on both. Just dont want the drama.

Not me, but I see it in other people and have heard people say it out loud so I don't doubt it's happening. There's been a few studies showing the phenomenon in general and then how social media amplifies it.

That's exactly my point. Trolling. Stirring up some **** for your own amusement. Does that make anyone else happier? Does it do any good?

...and yet here I am. Getting sucked in and wasting time because I think I have a point that might enlighten someone else, but it's really just falling on deaf ears while earning someone $.0001 in ad revenue.

In general, yes a lot of people get sucked into the Facebook perfect world stuff, the people that I have on my friend page don't seem to have too big a problem with that though. Pretty much just taking pictures and sharing stuff from their everyday lives

I don't consider it trolling responding to someone who's on my friends page when they post something I disagree with. Like the snowflakes with the lion - on here and on FB, they now have information if they did not have, before they thought they were doing Lions a favor by getting rid of hunters and now maybe one of those people is smart enough to understand that the hunters the only reason the lions are still alive. LOL

Helping the world be a better place one wrong person on the internet at a time lol

I do agree it's a time suck, but I rarely have any kind of toxic stuff on Facebook that most people do. I unfriend people that are dumb asses. Just this week one of our friends found a lady who did not have hot water for 6 months, almost 80 years old on a social security check, no kids and no family. Within 8 hours she had a full propane tank, a new water heater, a registered car and a little bit of cash.

Facebook sucks most of the time, at least to me compared to a tighter net group like contractor talk where there is at least some relevant discussions, but it definitely helped that lady have a a lot better Christmas.

All depends on your friends page imo. That being said I don't go there much, maybe post once a week. Much prefer CT

Like I said, that 80 year old woman is a lot more comfortable today due to Facebook. I guess my buddy could have just texted everyone but he probably has 500 friends on his friends page and he got responses within an hour by tagging a few people.

Same thing for the floods and Harvey, lot of Facebook traffic Gathering help and support for the victims. If you have a bunch of wusses for friends on Facebook then you guys will probably be wiping your eyes and saying how sad it is, if you got some good dudes on there will be a major effort underway within hours.

Lots of good cones out if it, but it can be a mixed bag. Some people like drama, same in the real world.

Is she hot? If you're into the demographic, yes.
