That's actually what I had wanted to do, but for whatever reason they want a thicker edge profile that can be painted. Willing to sacrifice weight for thickness.
They're getting oversized hollow core doors with Sintra laminated to the faces and concealed hinges. <40lbs for each display. Tolerable.
Just put in the weirdest door order to the lumber yard.
