Do 3 dogs totaling 50lbs count as big-ass?

Hello no. They might be small but they kick ass. In the last week, they've brought me (in the house) a bird, chip munk thingie and a rabbit. Yeah, they might not bite you but they sure as hell will let me know you're anywhere near my house. That's when the gun comes into play.

That is the problem, little dogs are just annoying. One good kick and they are out of the way. You kick my dog and she might just decide to eat your face after that.

My little girls torment, hug, poke, play, and Love that dog. The dog just follows them around and always watches them.

I am just saying for protection wise.

I will admit to being around a couple little dogs that I did not trust.

Had to keep one eye on them at all times.

Agreed! They are NOT for protection.

Although, once I left a gate open and (only) 2 of them had a utility guy pinned to the back of his truck. I had a very good laugh at his expensive.

Sissy!

I have a sissy dog and no guns. I live in a middle class neighborhood and don't feel threatened.

Re: Home Security! Alarm Or Firearms

my Sheppard will love u and eat any 1 who tries to harm. great dog. as far as guns go. I love guns. I think every1 should have em and proper gun safety and awareness is essential. that being said, safe storage includes keeping the gun unloaded, not a glock w a full clip and one in the chamber on ur night stand. I would also say, depending on the state Ur in, unless u are in real danger and the guy guy is carrying himself, ur setting urself up for some serious legal problems if u end up shooting some1 who only wanted to break into ur house and steal ur flat screen. some of the laws are extremely messed up and the best way to protect yourself is to be aware of them. id say have a few firearms get a dog, there great and look at a security system. there isn't much worse then not feeling safe in ur own home. no locks no alarm here and iv been like that since iv lived alone

Angus, the two inside dogs total 21 lbs. A Doxeranian (7 lbs) & a Rat Terrier (14 lbs) that will let us know if anything moves on the street. Now the Lab in the backyard, if the guy on the street has food I'll know about it.

I NEVER lock my car.

I also NEVER leave anything worthy in it!

If they are going to steal stuff inside, they are going to break your windows to do so. Save $200.00 by leaving it unlocked!

Re: Home Security! Alarm Or Firearms

you need an alarm so it scares the theif away and alerts the police so they can bring guns to arrest the theif that ran away with your stuff after the alarm went off

Love my 870 much better than my first shotty a Mossberg 500a 20" 8 shot. Was a good cheap starter though.

Maryland has the same 'last resort' law. Thats why I have 2 55 gallon drums behind my shed.

Re: Home Security! Alarm Or Firearms

I have about 10 or 12 lbs alarm runing around inside, about 80lbs outside. I have been known to get up any time of the night and walk the yard if the outside dog gets to barking or I think hear something usually with a little sumpin sumpin on me. I have gotten up many times to check things. I finally decided there is nothing outside ( or inside) worth taking someone's life. I have also decided that dogs with bark at varmints during the night.

I have not had a backdoor on my shop in a pretty good while. It is fenced, and the front door is part of the front boundary. It stays locked as does the double gate. Yeah, I do have a lot of faith in the lab/pitt mix. Kind of funny how they know when people have no business being in the territory they are protecting. I have a single gate on the other side of the house that has been locked in a while. Not big enough to get my trailer or rider mower out.

But come in my house on me or mine and all I have to say is "better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6".

The one in the middle class neighborhood? If I was a burglar, you neighborhood would be my target most likely, until I got good enough or confident enough to feel I could get by the security of the higher end neighborhoods.
