Highway Chalk Drawings

The wife and I decide to borrow my parents travel trailer and take our kids to Vancouver. We decided if we went earlier in the year we would miss the summer tourism and road construction.

We left at 1 on Friday to help spilt up the five some more and got to our camp site outside field bc.

Day two our plan was to drive 2-1/2 hours to the Enchanted forest for lunch. We got a little over an hour and a half into the drive when the highway can to a complete stop.

We ended up sitting in the same spot for 7-1/2 hours ( Fatality accident with multiple vehicles)

After roasting hot dogs in the trailer we took a family walk down the highway and back for the little on to have a nap

Another longer walk with the stroller and another snack we ...

Made the best of it. We got moving again at 6pm and drove for another hour and a half till we passed a semi who’s drive we spoke to rolled into the ditch and decide it was time to pack it in.

Found a great little campground for the night.

After another 5-1/2 hours on the road today we got to the campground in North Vancouver

I've spent a few days "stuck in traffic" on hwy 1 and hwy 3, you Canadians seem to know how to make the best of bad situation, last time a power line across hwy 3, we were told 3 hr min response time from pud, and a bbq broke out, complete with ladder golf and cornhole tourneys

I live in corn country and we call it "Bags".
I don't care what you fill it with, I'm not calling it "cornhole".

Whoever started calling it cornhole should be shot!

Re: Highway Chalk Drawings

I'm not sure I'd want to use corn for cornholing, at least from what I've heard. Not that I'd want to use anything else either.

Man, this was a cute thread, how'd we get here.

Re: Highway Chalk Drawings

To get this back on track.

The adventure continued today. We thought we would but the kids in the bike trailer and take the big across from North Vancouver to Stanley island.

After the longest uphill bridge I have ever walked pulling a 60lb trailer behind my bike we got completely lost in the middle of the park as half the signs are overgrown with trees.

Found a nice splash park to play and and get a ice cream.

Then we worked our way back through the park and over the bridge again.

I enjoy seeing folks do these things.

Unfortunately, I got so caught up in making a living (sort of), and being "busy", that we didn't do very many trips just to take a trip.

Kid's 20 and now I am playing catch up, but it isn't the same.

Keep doing what you're doing. They will remember it forever. It's a cliche, but noone remembers why they didn't take a trip, but they remember the ones you do take.

And I do apologize for taking this to the gutter a bit.

Thanks. All the credit for this goes to my wife. She keeps me grounded and focused on the family and not just running a business.
